Does anyone know if fog lights are standard or optional on an '05 STi?

I want anything that makes cheap hp... I just want the proof first. SOTP impressions would be great, but dyno numbers are better!

What I recommend to every new Suby owner is to pick up one of these:

Start out with the pink "Toppo BJ Type R" decal, affix it to a conspicuous spot on the rear of your car. This will give you pretty good performance gains, drive it for a few weeks and really get a feel for how it handles.

If you're looking for some moderate gains, go ahead and affix an additional "Type R" sticker somewhere on your car. Again, take it easy for a while, learn how it handles, then if you think you're really ready, read on.

To really push your Suby to it's limits, affix a minimum of ten "Type R" decals to any free area of your car. Just be prepared to receive offers to street race everywhere you drive, and keep an eye out for the popo, they'll have their eyes on you.

Back when I had my WRX wagon, I had a Vishnu pulley on it. My car was on the dyno a lot - 280 some odd pulls. I had taken the pulley off to get the rather common '02 crank seal oil leak fixed and decided not to put it back on. My dyno numbers before and after were identical (actually, they went up slightly but I attributed that to a change in the weather).

I wouldn't expect to see much if anything on a chasis dyno. Removing rotational mass from the engine does three things.

1. reving more freely- rev matching may become easier
2. quicker acceleration - you are spinning less mass so more of the already made power can get to the wheels. However this gets reduced in higher gears because the engine is accelerating at a lower rate.
3. reduces the flywheel effect - flywheels are there for a reason. Less flywheel = easier stalling and/or clutch slipping needed. Flywheels also smooth the rotation speed of the engine which reduces stress. A pulley isn't much of a change compared to an actually lightweight flywheel though.

I'm not going out of my way to put a pulley on.

HMMMM....makes sense that it wouldn't create power, only greater efficiency in the power already made. These cars really seem to get up in the revs quickly already, so the pulley idea may be shelved. What other items create decent hp for the money? BTW...the car's in the garage!
