Does anyone know if fog lights are standard or optional on an '05 STi?

I'm picking up my new car tomorrow and the original owner says the car has no foglights... just curious.

They don't really come with the STI. Can you even add them as an option at purchase time? I guess you could..dunno. But the foglights from an '04/05WRX will fit.

Ya you can add them if you really wanted to at the dealership, because they carry them for the WRX's

+ 11tybillion.

Info Link
The kit comes with all the pieces you need, except the JDM bumper beam, and can be installed in about 2 - 3 hrs. That includes cutting your USDM bumper beam.

So, when can I schedule you in for an install appointment?

Paul... I like the look, especially if they're available with clear lenses. I hate the word "cut". Is it possible that it is a "shave" or even a "trim" lol. Also, are the STi's wired for fog lights or is that part of the install process?

Sorry, Paul... I missed the "info link" at first. That answered a few of my questions. I think JDM actually stands for "Just Dump Money". Those are pricey little bastards. I think I'm going to focus on a few power mods first, but thanks for the offer. I plan on making it to your grand opening so I'll meet you then. Also, if I have your attention for a second, do you know anything about the Perrin lightweight crank pulley?

Perrin products are well made.
That being said, I haven't seen proof that lightweight pulleys make the mad power.

Before starting your quest for increased performance, get used to the car first.
Drive for a while, and find out what you like, what you don't like.

Next step is to decide what you want: moderate gains or LookingForPower-level of silly wheel spinning power.

If you want moderate, which will satisfy 90% of us here, the best $/hp increase is a turbo-back exhaust, Cobb AP with a custom tune.
This keeps the car very streetable and doesn't drain your savings.
This will run in the $1500 - $2000 range, depending on exact parts that you go with.
Pulleys, intakes, fancy vacuum lines, etc, will only increase your power/weight ratio by simply lightening your wallet.

Now, if Moderate becomes boring after awhile, get ready to spend some dough.
You're now looking at a build engine, different/larger turbo, larger fuel injectors, alcohol/water injection or larger intercooler, etc, etc, etc.

Speed/power = $$$$^2.
The question is, how fast do you want to go?

Paul... thanks for the reply. Your response is somewhat funny to me b/c it's almost exactly what I plan to do immediately. I am going to purchase a Cobb Stage 2 setup... run their TBE to best match the Accessport and a K&N panel filter (no CAI... I don't like the noise and I hear that the Accessport is geared to work with the factory airbox). I also was thinking about doing the Perrin turbo inlet pipe and charge pipe, allowing me still run the stock airbox and that crank pulley. In theory, as long as the motors are internally balanced, losing over 4 pounds of reciprocating mass has to make a few hp. I'm not looking for anything ridiculous...I'd like to creap up on 375 hp at the crank with the above parts and nothing more (for now)... I want to avoid any major modifications to fuel system, turbo, etc. Any advice is great! Thanks.

Wink

I've been down that road a few times... I've had a couple of Fox body Mustangs, my '92 hatch had a mean 331 stroker in it and my '00 Lightning had quite a bit of nice stuff done to it. Still, I think that my '92 was the fastest thing I've had. I could outrun by buddy's Formula WS6 with all the bolt ons and a 150 shot... it'd **** him off big, every time. He got all too used to those LX taillights. I miss that car. I sold it to build our house in 2002.
