Clutch Change Help

Hey I-club,

For a little introduction, my name is Simon, and I have been on I-club for a few years now just browsing but really haven't posted anything. I've had my WRX for about 2 years now and absolutely love it.

To get on topic, it's time for a clutch replacement. My clutch is slipping like crazy which makes it barely drivable. I don't have the tools and knowledge to do this myself so I am asking if anyone has the time to help me out? I want to learn how to do it so I can eventually be comfortable doing it myself in the future.

By the way, I'm located in Davis. Finals are coming in a couple of weeks so I thought I would do this in a few weeks after I graduate (mid-December). I don't mind driving any where for help. I appreciate any help, thanks!

Welcome to iclub.. first step is to invest in some tools if you wanna learn. Secondly, you need time and lots of it. Replacing the clutch isnt something you can complete in 1 to 2 hours and if done wrong, either you clutch isnt going to engage or you'll be looking to replace the clutch again very soon. Suggestion to you is to just take it in to a shop after you graduate. FW motorsport ( dbtuned) , GST, EQ tunning.. any of those guys would be happy happy to help you get it done right the first time. If you do wannt jusg go with it by yourself.. check at some youtube clips on a step by step video on replacing the clutch on a wrx

^^ what he said. I remember when my clutch went out on a Sunday and I needed to be at work the next day. It's not a 1 - 2 hour job for sure. It took me and my buddy 7 hours to change out the clutch and that's knowing how to do it. The hardest part was getting the transmission to separate from the block and finding a machine shop to machine my flywheel on a Sunday. Anyways good luck. The youtube video is a good suggestion and there might be some DIY clutch threads.

he wants his clutch replaced for free, and for someone to teach him how to do it. ultra mega win/win.
