The invitations are for people that have chosen to attack me personally. I know it's a web forum, and call me old fashioned, but I think certain discussions are better conducted in person. Also, quintessential is NOT a lame word, and your suggestion to use the word "typical" is way off. Typical is not a synonym for quintessential, and thus will not be useful as a means of relaying what it is that I am communicating (http://thesaurus.reference.com/search?q=quintessential - as you can see, a more correct replacement would be classic or paradigmatic). And since it is a web forum, I can choose to use whatever words I feel like using. And so what if I have the most posts on this thread; I'm from Socal, and I'm listing all the reasons why I hate Norcal. And responses from all the Norcal-ers are yet another reason why Norcal has earned its hate. It's the Norcal-ers that are uninvited here.

 

You know you want an invitation too. But lame is as lame does. Do yourself a favor and buy yourself a dictionary/thesaurus.

+1 for this fact. I don't have to make myself feel cool for using a word which I and anyone that I know uses. If 90% of people don't know the meaning of the word, then that's not my fault (hence the blaming of public schools-if people don't know how to spell and to use proper grammar, then what the hell was the point in spending 13+ years of one's life in "learning"). Oh, and the btw, I learned this simplistic word in the seventh grade.

 

You are very arrogant. This is not an attack, but constructive critisicm. Maybe your enlightened, privatly educated (read: overpriced) brain can someday realize that the best thing you could ever do would be to realize that you really aren't as cool or smart as you think you are...

 

Actually, the word is "egotist" (see Cohnster 1st page). Whoever said anything about being cool or smart; are you kidding me? All I got on my SAT was a 1360, whereas all my friends got high 1400s and mid-1500s. And to further correct people, whoever said that I was a NOT a part of the "poor" categorization down in L.A. Also, your welcome for the links. I thought you would have some couth and be thankful for the info., but I suppose one shouldn't expect too much from Norcal-ers.

p.s. "critisicm" is criticism & "privatly" is privately - doors wide open are just far too tempting...

Finally, only idiots would think that their education has any bearing on their success in life. It's not where you go to school, it's what you actually do with what you've got. The education part was merely in referrence to academic-related issues; (i.e. word definitions and spellings, and grammar). Alot of the truly successful people I know in life never went to college (in fact, quite a large percentage of the Forbes 400 don't have a college degree).

 

To finally get back to the point of this thread:

What I hate about Norcal:

There are no good Mexican, Thai, Indian, Middle-Eastern, and 24/7 restaurants.
-No Yoshinoya
-No Fatburger
-No Zankou

My personal Socal (specifically L.A.) favorites:

Mexican: Tacos el Unico by USC, and for 24/7 Mexican in Hollywood, the one on Vermont and Santa Monica.

Thai: Palm in Hollywood (now on Sunset) with the world-renown Thai Elvis

Indian: ******* in Beverly Hills

Middle-Eastern/Lebanese: Carnival in the valley on Woodman

24/7: Big Tomy's next to the Best Buy in W.L.A. on Sawtelle; from burritos to gyros, they've got it all, anytime you want it

 

yoshinoya has two locations. Cupertino and in Santa Clara
Fat burger has two locations in norcal and opening up a 3rd location.

Look them up before you say you can't find them.

 

for someone not hating nocalers, you like to attack them a lot. my intention was not to attack you, but being snobbish is one of my pet peeves and you have to agree that you are being a bit snobbish.

if someone were to make negative comments on somewhere you enjoy living, wouldn't you defend it? and i'll mention again that defending norcal is not the same as hating socal. nor is it being ethnocentric.

english is not my first language. it's not even my second language. i attended public schools all my life. i think i turned out okay. i don't think a general attack on public schools is effective here. i'm sure you're one of the very few people posting here that attended private schools all their life and being snobbish about that isn't winning you any brownie points with norcal or socalers (though i don't think you're going for that anyway).
