That's because you're a part of the community without being "of" the community. But, individuals like you are rare in the Bay Area.

Everywhere actually, anywhere you live in California you have a high likelyhood of getting hit by a "big one", we just live in a very earthquake prone state, blame it all on that goddamn Pacific Plate, it keeps moving. If you want, there is a cool page where you can check earthquakes daily:

Edit: I put my money on Mammoth, that place is gonna pop like a pimple before a hot date!

EDIT - Another annoying thing I've seen down here is the 24/7 carpool lanes. In norcal they are all during rush hour.

Forgot about CALTECH too.

Real mass transit in L.A.? Dude, only poor people in L.A. take mass transit; that's why it's the car capital of the world. I agree that the 24/7 carpool lanes thing is annoying, but the reason why they have it that way is to prevent people from using that lane as a momentary overtake-lane. So it's safer for people in the carpool lane to use. And besides, when it's no longer rush hour in L.A., there's tons of space with the average 5 lanes in each direction.

I'm from s.cal (born and raised) and now live in n.cal. I did get **** from some people up here about me being from s.cal. I was like wtf?? To me, I could care less. If you're cool, you're cool. I did meet a ton of cool people up here though. They're more laid back and less pretentious. But yeah, s.cal will always be my home and I miss it everytime I go back to visit.

I like s.cal better because:
1. More places to go and party or chill. Variety is the spice of life.
2. More women and hot ones everywhere you go. The female (hot) to male ratio owns n.cal and n.cal can NEVER match it.
3. Places stay open later.
4. Closer to Vegas. All n.cal has is Reno and that ****'s gay. :x
5. More beaches and fishing spots if that's your thing.

But I digress. I love Cali, but I'd much rather be living somewhere else.

Good points. And don't forget the murder rate percapita is much lower in Socal than in the Bay Area.

p.s. what's up with Vegas being a NINE hour drive from here?

edit: "I was like wtf?? To me, I could care less." Seriously, I should tell you about the time I went to vote and showed my drivers license with the L.A. address on it. WTF indeed.
