this thread is still going on? can't we all just get along? norcal has its perks, so does socal. regardless, i think it's the company you're with that makes the big difference, not location.

Now, where exactly do you draw the line to define mid-cal? Is it when life starts to slow down, get real lame, and the styles, fads, technology, and lingo are about 5 years behind, such as Bakersfield (excluding nerd valley)? Or would you say it's north of B-Town?

I'm asking because there are many new post ******; I'm used to seeing just a handful.
Actually, if you look at my post average it is .56 posts a day. So I don't normally unless I feel it contributes to the discussion at hand, and as far from a post ***** as it gets (see Ed). And if I still had my original SN pre-split, then my post count will likely be .01 or something like that. I've been around for several years now; I just have been inactive except on occasion.

Well, because there has not been much else that was worth posting about.

People, generally, regardless of where they live, exist in an isolated bubble, and believe that everything that they think is correct and that their society is the paramount one. Now certain societies go beyond this and further believe that their society is beyond reproach, and that they therefore have a responsibility to indoctrinate all their citizens about their "superior" mode of life. One such past society was **** Germany. One such current society is the Bay Area.

Yes, I would agree that this, generally, is what occurs on forums, usually over topics such as whether Honda owners are gay, or BOVs and CAIs are worthwhile and the like. However, this issue of Socal vs. Norcal is a very real one, and affects real life. An example is one that I discovered reading the East Bay Express. It turns out that Latinos in prison have a segregational system, labeling people from Socal as Surteņos, and Norcal people as Norteņos. Prison administrators eventually realized that they couldn't mix the two groups together because riots would occur. This example may seem to be unexpository, but is actually indicative of the behavioral patterns already mentioned that are generally prevalent. "Resentiment" is a very real issue, and anyone that has studied a certain portion of Modern philosophy shall know exactly what I am speaking of. Thus, making this specific topic worth discussing, because there was never any argument to win in the first place. Besides, the thread was supposed to be for Socal members to post about hating Norcal - it wasn't supposed to include Norcal-ers (who were "recruited" because of a certain someone's bay area invitation) who felt the need to beat on their drums.

p.s. people like me get paid to argue
