Damn, nice project, congrats! Just read the whole thread, job well done and I hope I can check it out sometime.

I liked the gunmetal color, I think I may try that color out on my RS wheels. I used the Duplicolor bronze wheel paint.

Day after painting

Dirty, not washed for over 2 months

Too bad the paint wasnt sticking, what was the temperature when you painted them? I didnt have chips or anything putting them on, and all was good driving for 7 months in rain, mud ect...but last week when I swapped my stock winter wheels, I was careless with an old rusty tire iron and chipped it a bit.

Also, how would you maintain the bare metal? Clearcoat? I think that would like pretty sic. Oh yeah, 1 more question -- How much for the sandblasting? Do you have to take off the tire? Im not looking foward to re-sanding part when I repaint, its a major pain.

I think when I painted them when it was around 65 degrees and I let them sit for over a week before I tried mounting one. Not sure how I'm gonna maintain bare metal if I do keep em like that, I'm hoping since they're aluminum they won't rust and I can just use wheel cleaner each week to get the brake dust off. If I like the bare metal I might put clearcoat if it seems necessary. I'm getting the sandblasting done for free I just had to pay for the sand which I picked up at Lowe's. You don't need to take the tire off I just used blue painters tape to cover up the tire and valvestem. I should have pics of the wheels in a few days.

Good news I passed the state ref inspection today. Went in there and the guy did a quick visual of the engine bay (luckily he didn't see the uppipe) haha. Also held my car at 2500rpms for 30 seconds, did the OBDII check and tested my gas cap. I have the official BAR label inside the edge of my door, so I'm all squared away and LEGAL whoohoo!!!

Well since thats all done now, I'm not waiting to throw on my next mods. Perrin high flow cat downpipe is going on tonight. Then tomorrow I'm getting a 3'' midpipe welded at an exhaust shop so I can connect it to my dp to my Brullen dual tip muffler.

Downpipe got installed earlier tonight. Then I took a fun run on the freeway with just the open downpipe. Loud as hell with no exhaust but has some real definite gains! I'll get the rest of it put on tomorrow and snap some pics.

Got a few things taken care of today..

Did my first oil change since the swap *yay* lol.

Re-routed a coolant line, had a minor issue of coolant seeping out the radiator cap.

Swapped in a WRX wagon front swaybar, fits MUCH better than the sedan bar.

One crappy thing is my clock spring behind the steering wheel went out. Its the part that lets your cruise control, horn and airbags stay connected while the steering wheel is turning. Subaru won't sell just that part you gotta buy some entire assembly which is like 590 bucks! No way I'm spending that so I might try and put in a 95L clockspring from my friends car which is soon to be track only.

Yea it was a pretty lame thing to do. On the bright side I picked up an A'PEXi turbo timer today from a fellow i-clubber. Once I get the bs with my door taken care of I'll have this installed.

Tomorrow I'll be going over to a fellow i-clubbers house to try and remove the scratch on my door. I'd rather just get it mostly concealed than pay my deductable and repaint the whole door. Next week I'll be swinging by Gruppe-s to get the A'PEXi TT installed. In other news I have the clockspring from my friends L but I might see if a WRX one will fit first so I can keep my cruise control. If not I'll put in the L one and yank out my cruise control, I wasn't using it that much anyways.

I had Gruppe-S put in my turbo timer today. Install went pretty quickly.

Only thing is I need to find out what wire to cut on my keyless entry module, cause as of now it won't let me lock doors / set alarm while the timer is counting down. I'll look into it soon but if anyone knows off the top of their head let me know.
