do you have any pics of the rear speakers? I want to install some in my '04 wagon but crutchfield says only 4" speakers will fit. I wondered what you used and if you had to modify the door at all.

Have you done a dynamat install on the floor yet?

Smile

WOW - it has been a long time since I have been on I-club.

Sorry for the late response - alright very late response

Yes for those who might care the whole car is covered in Dynamat Extreme from the firewall all the way back including the hatch lid. The doors are cover inside and out including the plastic interior panels. The front floors also received a layer of Extremeliner and the floor of the trunk has two layers of Extreme with a layer of carpet under all of the new trim panels.

I need to update some photos and show all of that.

Current update,
I have given up on importing a rear lip wing and I am modifying a lip wing from a Chevy wagon. Should be cool and once it is completed I will post some picts.

Next week I will changing out the springs in the suspension for a set of 04 STi springs that I just got off eBay for $40 including shipping. That deal beat the $200 for a set of Tein's.

Also designing a few stainless steel support braces since the WRX ladder brace I bought will not work on a 2.5 NA motor thanks to the exhaust manifold.

That's all for now, I will add some new photos this weekend.

By the way - anyone want to buy a replica GT-Spec WRX ladder brace?

Will the STI springs work on a wagon without modifying them?

Dank,

I put 4" in my rear doors, but I've heard you can get 5.25" in there depending on the mounting depth and all that. Most people who go larger than 4" have to use spacers.

I just put 4" coaxails in. Actually I think no matter what you put in you still need adaptors. The 4" speakers that come from teh factory use an over-sized frame compared to the ones sold after-market. They seem to be in between a 4" and 5.25".

I used 1/4" abs to make a spacer for the new speakers.

If you want to add a 5.25" you can trim a little metal and add a thin space to cover up all of the holes.

I am thinking about updating the rears to 5.25".
If I do I'll post picts.

In the mean time if you a pict of how the current ones are installed just let me know and I will post those as well.

rear speaker install

Here is a photo of the JBL GTO426 4" coaxial speaker installed in the rear door.

Also here are a few pictures of the Dynamat install in the front floors.

Top secret rear wing

Okay - I have decided to post a few pictures of the lip wing that I have started to modify to fit my wagon. Here is the basic look with the wing being held on with some double-sided tape. I have some more sanding and filling to do before I have a near perfect fit. As you can see it is a pretty close fit aside from the side view, where the contour of impreza trunk is a lot different then the wing.

This is a fiberglass wing from a . . . . . . . . . . . . . . well I not going tp tell that until I get it finished up, mounted and new pictures posted.

Just got through the post and am admiring your car. Very nice work. I especially like the stealth trunk install. I have a 2005 wagon in blue. My installs, however, are not nearly as impressive, and I'm considering starting a couple of new projects.

Is this all DIY or do you have a shop you work with?

I've had a problem with rattles in the rear view mirror and a couple of the door clips, have you dealt with any of that?

I've dynamatted the floor and all the doors back to the trunk, but not the firewall. Did you actually remove the dash and dynamat that? It must have been expensive, do you have a preferred supplier?

How do you like the speaker imaging? I'm considering kick panels but didn't want to give up the foot space. Did you spend a lot of time on this?

How'd you do at the IASCA show?

Lastly, how do you find a wife that's willing to do Dynamat with you?

very nice install, im just wondering if having the sub facing up will cause any sort of fatigue on the subs suspension over time?
