Any interest in doing the FATRAC S. Yuba ride on Saturday? I think I'm gonna go do that one and it would rock if some of you guys came.

South Yuba Trail
RideDescription: Trailhead just beyond Edwards Crossing. Ride rim trail around Malakoff Diggings and back along the river. 23 miles about 3.5-4 hrs bring food and fenders. Rain doesn’t always cancel call.
Logistics: 23 Miles, 2000' gain, Pace-Moderate, Difficulty-Stimulating
Meeting Location: Auburn_Flower_Garden_Bakery
Meeting Time: 8:30:00 AM
Leader: Paul Ludden 916-335-2927
I know it will take a bit more time than our normal rides, but it will be sweet to get out on some new trails

I'd like to ride it, but I can't do it this Saturday. Ride time + drive time will end up being too much. We have an afternoon Little League game. I'll probably just go hit Olmstead X2.

Oh, uh, wow...well I just found a map to get to the S. Yuba trail. I didn't realize it was that far. http://yubaexpeditions.com/downieville/maps/syuba.html

Mike, do you want to do Olmstead x2, or do you want to do connector/fdlt + some or something? It's supposed to rain Friday so I'm thinking Olmstead will be a muddy nasty mess. I think I'll bail on the S. Yuba ride as I just found out I have plans that night.

Also, when we ride, lets plan out some weekends that we can do all these sweet rides we keep talking about: Yuba, Tam, etc

I was going to do Olmstead if it was just me.

I'll be happy with Connector + FDLT.

Went to Mike's Bike today to order my XC, I hope I get it by the weekend, but it will probably take to middle of next week. Talked to I believe it was Wayne for a while in the back. He mentioned you Matt and said that you told him to expect me. He was showing me a RST fork I'm thinking of putting on my wife's Hardrock. Their willing to sell it to me cheap.....but I just recently picked up a Manitou SixSix fork for $10. I think I will also do one of the Wednesday bike maintenance clinics to get to know my new bike. Matt how was it? I hear you got a lot done.

God I'm already looking at what I can do to hop up this new ride.....I can't wait to get it. It's going to be the Satin Green......everyone says that its going to be unique......in other words no one else is buying this color Oh well.....I can't beat the price :P I definatly want to put some discs on it and maybe change the forks and rear shock......but I think I will first ride it a while before spending some money I may not need to. But disc's are going on it no matter what.

I won't know about riding this weekend until later in the week. I have SOOOO much homework and study to catch up on.....I did nothing academic wise this last weekend.

BB7's are super easy to setup and I'm really happy with mine.

Sweet, dude! Wayne is awesome! He was the guy last night that worked with me to help tear down my bike and rebuild it after cleaning and regreasing the BB, derailleurs, chain, etc. He rocks.

The Wednesday maintenance clinics are also really cool. Before you go in, have an idea of what you want to do (learn), like how to adjust the derailleurs, adjust the brakes, etc. They don't really have a lesson plan or anything that they set out to teach you, they ask about what you want to know/do and take you through it all. They're all really good guys.

And not to really mess with you, but you should probably check out this thread, Eddy :

You are doomed.

Don't I know it..........My wife doen't realize it yet, but me winning this bike is probably going to cost us more, then if she let me get the one I originally was looking at (Stumpjumper Comp). But at least I now have leverage and a decent platform to work with. Unlike the individual in that thread, at least I didn't pay $1100 and then started upgrading......I just need to spend on upgrades. So 1000 in upgrades and I should have one helleva trail bike.

I've already been looking in Ebay for (new) parts. Here's what I am looking at:

1. Either: 07 Avid BB7 or Juicy 7 Disc Brakes
2. Mavic 317 Disc Wheelset
3. Fox Shox Float R Rear Shock (7.25x1.5)
4. Fox Talos Front Forks
5. Shimano 9spd Rear Cassette

My first purchase will be brakes though. I'm also looking at replacing any other part that doesn't work well on the trail.....but I won't know what I want to replace until after I get some good seat time on the bike. Oh and definately I want to put this bike on a diet.

I plan on putting road tires on the original wheels so that I can run on pavement and not wearout the dirt tires for our weekend runs. Plus having two sets of wheels is always a plus.

Well, let me just say that going from bb5s to juicy 5s is a WORLD of difference, so if you're considering hydraulic brakes, don't even mess with cable. They hydros are fantastic.

On the rear shock, look at what people are saying about the Float R - seems a lot of people prefer the RP23 .

yeah, go w/ hydro brakes...cables are only for bare min.
i'll be upgrading to hydro on my bike in the future, but i think my first up will be to replace the coil/air rear shock w/ a full air w/ lockout.

reaching down to twist that tiny little **** to lock out the rear was PITA!
