Dude, race tonight was SWEET. I could tell immediately how much stronger I am over last year when I went. And it was cool to actually have people recognize me, and to recognize people.
I ran in to Nicole (she has a silver WRX and used to come to the meets if you guys recall). She's getting interested in mountain biking and might pick one up soon.
Two people from Mikes Bike's were there and hung out with me for a bit.
Lance, that couple on the Giant's that you say always smokes you (and us when they're out), I saw them and said hi. The guys name is Terry, I didn't get his wife's name.
Nicole was just watching tonight and was counting people as they came in. She said it looks like I might have come in third in my class :wiggle:. The official results should be up tomorrow or Friday so we'll find out, but I know I did well. I walked away from the group at the beginning and held on strong the whole time. I did 5.27 miles in 24 minutes with an average speed of 12.8
.
It was DUSTY out there, and there was a lot of sandy sections that you had to be careful on. Also some pretty cool areas to get a little air in the beginning. There was this *****in table top - I wish the camera guys would set up in these areas. I would have busted out a sweet jump for em :\.
Ok, well, I'll wait for pics/results tomorrow. I need to finish grilling dinner and spend some time with the wife before she hurts me. Night!

I think you'd do fine out there, dude. There's guys out there on old bikes, cheap bikes, etc. If you want to race come out early as you'll want to get in shape fast. The races get more hilly and longer as the season progresses.

First step to getting out with you guys is a new toy, right?
Some crappy teaser pics from the buddy who's assembling my new SS (might go 9-speed, we'll see). Looks like it's gonna come in at ~23 pounds, not bad for a big basher (the bike is, too :P)

Mountain Cycle Rumble, Marz AM3 130mm, bunch of Prophet 600 takeoff parts (wheels, bars, stem, etc), some hydro discs and some fat 2.5's, and the whole thing has run me under $400, so I can't complain in the slightest; frame and fork are new, and everyting else is in perfect condition (to start with, heh).
Should have it together next week and start mashing around.

So 8AM at Salmon Falls tomorrow - who's coming?
Matt - if you want to park at my house, we can take my truck over to the trail.

Just got back from riding Around Lake Natomas (for the bike class @ Sac State). I ride in the advance group and it was soooooo funny hearing them whine about climbing a 7deg paved grade. One things for sure, climbing up a rocky uneven trail (at some times 14-deg) it really works out the body. I wasn't even feeling the hills (such as they were). Here I was keeping up with folks riding road bikes on a paved trail, and here I'm riding a mountain bike.
Rode from Fish Hatchury to Folsom Dam and back the other side. It was cool there was even a very smooth single track trail that runs along the main paved trail for us MB types. Was easy and fun the whole way.
Guys looks like I will not be able to make it for tomorrows ride. Want to so bad, but there's no way. Also is anyone going to the Sea Otter Classic next weekend? I'm going Saturday and doing the 20 mile mountainbike tour, then doing a little shoping at the pavilions & events all over Laguna Seca. If anyone's interested in going, we could carpool. (Just a suggestion)
Cheers
