I broke a spoke on mine trying to get the way out of true wheel back in line. It was weakened from that time I threw the chain between the spokes and the cog.

It looks like I'll be going to the bike shop too for a spoke.

So I just got home from Mike's. Those guys are so bad ***.

I dropped the bike off earlier, told them that we hadn't been able to tighten the cassette since we didn't have the right lockring, and since he'd be in there anyway we should maybe replace the spokes. Then I told them the brakes were rubbing something fierce and I cried a little. They said "cool, we'll call you when she's done."

So they called me. They:

Replaced the spokes and basically rebuilt the rear wheel.
Rebuilt the rear hub.
Trued the front wheel.
Cleaned up the brakes, and got them adjusted so there's no rubby rub.

Then as I was leaving, I joked with one of the guys up front and said "let's see if I can ride down the stairs without blowing the rear tire!" I rode down them, didn't have any issues at first, but as I got to the car I heard the tire going "pssssssssssssssssss." So I went back in and said "Man, guess the cut in the sidewall isn't going to hold."

Head manager goes "So, are you satisfied with that cut in your tire sidewall?" And I said I wasn't since I couldn't run tubless . He said "Sounds like we need to replace that under the Specialized lifetime tire warranty!" I told him then that the front tire had some leaks in the sidewalls too, so he said we should probably just replace them both.

So after all the stuff they already did, I ended up with two brand new tires. For free

Love those guys.

Dang Matt, I don't even want to know what you have to do to get such good treatment from those guys. Did you get UST tires? Also, did you get sealant?

Lance, thanks again for organizing D'Ville. Super-fun trip as always. My body is hating me today after getting owned by the waterfall. Let me know what you think of the Joplin once you get it set up. I also have the original box and receipt I need to get to you should you have warranty issues, etc.

Don't think I'll be riding until this weekend at the earliest.

Honestly I haven't done anything special. I just treat everyone there with respect, I take interest in them, and show that I just like to ride my bike. That's really all there is to it. Maybe a few 12-packs too . Really, they're all just kick *** people who like to ride too and have fun. One of the women that works sales is going to hit Auburn at 6:30 tomorrow morning .

Tires I got were just direct replacements - Specialized Captain Control 26x2.00. I was very happy with the set I had, so it made sense to just replace em like for like. They did seal up the tires for me, they reused as much as they could from the tire they took off, then supplemented it with some from what they had in the shop.

Ahhhh yeah...that's crazy!!!! D-ville on Saturday was cold as hell @ 10am!!! Can't imagine Auburn @ 6:30 this morning :censored:

So the Captian Control's are tubless or standard?

Glad you like the CK hubs Matt...can't go wrong...although I do love my I9's

No problem Nelson! I was just stoked that you and Kevin participated. It was a good group of guys and everyone had fun which is key. To bad it was butt *** cold during the 1st section...

I meant to try out that fork of yours but I was bombin' everything, having so much fun I totally forgot to ask you.

Set up the Joplin last night. Had to cut some of the cable but I think I got it working okay. It does have some play in it from side-to-side...maybe about a 1/16 of an inch in both directions...is that normal?

Yes, that is totally normal. They actually mention the small amount of play in the setup instructions. You shouldn't notice it at all when riding. Definitely search MTBR on this issue.

Here is a quote from a review article:

"Off the bike, you can feel a little bit of lateral play when you grab the seat - and we are talking about less than a millimeter of play. On the bike? You don't notice this at all. In fact, it felt as solid as the Thomson post it replaced."

And here is the review itself:

Yeah the Captain Controls are Specialized '2-bliss' - they always have to do stuff their way. Benefit of it is lighter weight, disadvantage is more porous sidewalls so Stan's is a must.

On hubs, yeah, I9s are the hotness. For how much Nelson gave the wheels to me, CK is where I'm at

SOOOOOOOOOOOO this weekend:

Saturday at 8 (or 8:30), connector trailhead? We'll do connector and FDLT, maybe FDLT two-times if we feel good?

Lemme know.

Totally normal. I don't notice it at all. Also, I have the oil change instructions if you are interested.

Yeah, road, though, not mtb. I've been riding into work like once a week. Todd is out of the country for a while, so I don't have a riding partner and more importantly a ride. I need to buy a friggin rack.

I can't keep up with you fools otherwise I would come out.
