Honestly, I feel that as it gets darker and the hour gets later, the likelyhood of someone having a wreck would increase. I'm all for a night cruise but it's something to keep in mind. That's kinda why I was suggesting starting while it's still light and then being back on a major highway by the time it's getting dark.
I would think that rural country highways, while fun and twisty, aren't the place to be after sundown. Just my two pennies.
Also, what would people think of HWY 160/River Rd. from West Sac through Clarksburg and further south? I haven't been that way for years so I don't really remember what the road is like.

I have always enjoyed driving HWY 50 to Ice House, Wentworth springs and arriving in Georgetown. Then from there take 193 to Cool, take 49 to Auburn and cruise on home I-80. The roads are smooth for the most part, remote with very little traffic, has long smooth roads as well as long sweeping turns and a few fun chicanes thrown in. Just a thought.

Again as stated earlier, deer are more prone to come out at night and you would have to not only worry about other cars/bikes ext, but deer as well.
Also doing any type of "spirited" driving can bring issues with people that may have never driven the road (whichever one is chosen) before.
As easy as it is to say that everyone will be calm and cool the entire drive is much easier said over a keyboard than actually doing it. I know it can be done, and would like a local group to be able to pull it off without incident.

Thank you to everyone chiming in ideas and warnings, it's great! I agree that we should start in the afternoon and onto night time. Yes we should avoid winding narrow roads. Can someone suggest a nice open road where we can cruise at? Highway 50 is a nice idea.
Anyone got anymore ideas with locations we can cruise on with open roads and nothing too extreme? Feel free to chime in!
I will do my best to handle dates and meet up locations that can fit into everybody's schedule.

Hwy 50 is pretty popular right now! Hopefully we can get this going before this month ends or a little after. Only 1-2 more weeks until me and other college students are done!

I've never driven Icehouse before but it looks like fun. So for those suggesting it, would the route be Icehouse to Wentworth Springs? It looks like there are a few options from there, either Mosquito Rd or Georgetown Rd back to 50. Or a longer option of Georgetown Rd/193 west to 49 and then north to Auburn.
You could make it REALLY longer and turn south when you get to 49 and go all the way back to 50 in Placerville. (That actually sounds like a full day trip)

I would like drive to Tahoe. I'm in placerville area and could meet off of 50 or meet in sac or whatever.. There's a lot of subie's in Tahoe too bad we couldn't meet up with a local Tahoe group for a tour of there back roads. Lol
I'm putting a clutch back in my car and I'm ready anytime!!

I'm in for this!
There is a very fun drive I know called salmon falls road. I take It from Folsom to Georgetown. Very very dangerous road though... Cliff on one side rock wall on the other. Probably not a good spot for night driving.
