WRX motor and drivetrain into 99 Legacy
I was wondering if any of you guys have done this swap yet? I am seeing more and more wrecked WRX's and I just love the space that the legacy has to offer plus I already have it ;-)
Anyway if any of your guys have done this or know of a place on the web that I can research I would really apperciate it.

Engine swap is possible. You have to change the frame crossmember under the engine, the engine, the ECU, and the wiring, along with custom fitting some a/c lines and other minor stuff under the hood. Check around the threads, if you do all the work yourself you might be able to save some money vs. just buying a turbo for the engine that you already have. One thing to remember, WRX has very little torque, until the turbo comes on(3000 rpm +) that 2.0 engine will hardly move that Legacy.
Is your Leg a 2.5 engine? Have you thought about just putting on a turbo? AVO has a turbo kit that would fit.

My legacy is the 2.2 model. And I will be doing most of the work myself. The reason that I was thinking about the entire swap is that my motor has 100,000 miles on it. Also I was under the impression that the WRX had a limited slip rear and also has a bigger clutch then my 2.2L? The other thing is that the WRX motor and drivetrain is all stock subaru (motor and ecu designed for forced induction) which is something that I sort of like, because this is going to be a daily driver. But I am open to suggestions.
p.s. what I would really like to do is wait for the STI which has the 2.5L turbo with 6 speed and torsen rear. But that is at least a year away

They sell a kit for the svx and its pretty complete too. They have soo many turbo kits including some twin turbo set ups for legacy and 2.5 Rs' and i think a lot of people have had sucess with them

Yeap, that's my car. That's an ej20t swap. You must be thinking of another car because that ain't just an intercooler
Where did you see the other pic? i-club? nasioc? I haven't seen any pics of Legacy's with a non-functional intercooler.

My car is Similar...
Mine is a 1996 GT Legacy.
Have a look at: http://www.apexjapan.com/j_sportcar/
(the closet to my car is the 97 GTB wagon.)
They are factory fitted with a 205kw EJ20 engine, the same engine used in an Impreza/WRX. The difference is, legacies come with Twin Turbo's
The TT has Pro's and Cons. They're magic when they they're running ok, but a mongrel to dignose and sort when they dont!
They also serious limitations when trying to modify them because the primary turbo is infamously fragile.
I'm currently looking at converting to WRX type single Turbo.
