wagon rattling noise help!

i have a 2002 wrx wagon, and im hearing a lot of rattling come from the trunk/hatch area. i only hear it on the rough and bumpy roads, but here in the bay area, theres a lot of poor condition roads and it gets extremely annoying. anybody know what the sound is? any help is greatly appreciated. TIA!!

It really could be any number of things:

* Loose jack
* Loose spare tire
* Broken retaining clip for any of the interior bits
* Clunky struts
* Broken latch for rear seat(s)

Do you have the cover that pulls over the hatch area to hide the contents? If so, then that's probably it. Mine rattles like crazy.

hmmm it could be a broken retaining clip. i'll give it a look, thanks man
