Sean,

Thanks for the great reply! Sounds like San Antonio might be the way to go... I bet I'm the shortest guy for miles around though. (Erin said she was the ONLY Asian that she was the entire 14 days she was there!)

I went out with a girl who was getting her Master's at UCSD. I visited her a couple of times there - it was WONDERFUL! I managed to end up in the hospital for a while too - don't ask, long story and involves all sorts of bedroom antics. I was just kind of bummed when I realized a lot of what was expensive in Hawaii was just as expensive in SD.

The Bay area seems great (went out with a couple of girls from there, and have a couple of good buddies that still live in Norcal) - but also expensive.

I need to find a small pond so I can be a big fish ($$$).

P.S. Dan, my dad had 20 in (retired USAF Lt. Col.) and 20 years in Federal service after that. He makes more in his retirement than I have ever made working 60 hour weeks in a field that I have both a degree and a certification in. Amazing. Do it.

yes, the cost of living in SD is still expensive! I was bummed too when I started looking for an apartment. But the cost of food and stuff like that is "more normal", so that is good. A lot of people I talked to say that many people are buying homes farther away from the city, ....... and making an hour or so commute to work!! (sometimes more!) That's a bit extreme in my book!
But I have found apartments in the Mission Bay area that are definitely affordable, and that's a good area to live IMO. I'm excited about moving, looking forward to the change! And I wanna meet a hot mexican chica, so that's as good of place as any!

If I stay in or get out my Standard ($$$$$) of living will stay about the same.

I'm hoping that if I do get out my Quality ( / ) of living will go up.

I'm very unhappy at work.
