The Central Oregon economy rocks! It's safe and no one messes with your car. Land is still cheap but, it's going up.
I have a Dream. It's to have a Used Car lot/Service Shop with cool cars like old muscle cars, old VW's and cool British roadsters stuff like that. It would go over really good, because of all the rich people in the area.
Oh, I forgot about all the Hunting, Fishing, Hiking, Snowboarding, Snowmobiling, and Dirtbiking.
You're 11hrs away from LA, 7hrs away from SanFran, 14hrs away from Vagas and 5hrs away from the SeaTac area!

having lived in Vegas, and Scottsdale/Tempe (phoenix) Japan, San Antonio, and family lives in Denver and the rest of the family is in upstate NY..... this is what I have seen.. oh and my family was in New Zeland for a few years but never got the chance to visit....was kinda bummed about that.....
1.Vegas....I get into too much trouble period.....gambling/hookers/racing cars/losing jobs/ etc........plus summer is hot as hell.... but very cheap houses...and they are BIG
2. Phoenix.... Even hotter than vegas....not much to do except go to clubs and bars and drink to oblivion....and race your car...oh and school was great at ASU.....the women in scottsdale/tempe area are some of the best in the nation....
3. Japan was the bomb....awsome society and technology, and everyone is nice... plus they have insane cool cars.....would go back in no time!
4. SanAntonio was ok.....nothing really special unless you love the spurs.... and good mexican food...
5. Hawaii is cool thats why im here too.....I love the ocean/scenery and weather..... Im still new and getting used to the people.....and im starting to pick up a pidgeon accent..
6. Denver is way cool...lots of stuff to do .....very active lifestyle....and is clean good quality of life...just dont killyourself on the slopes yah!
Im young and still like to travel to more cool places before I make a final decision where to lay my head as "home" but hawaii is really close....

Don't worry about the island fever. Most locals don't get it. I'm just a bit different though. I'd prefer the mountains to the beach. The evening's twilight to the mid-day's sun. I'd like to ski rather than surf. I'd like to drive 4 hours in a random direction for no reason other than to "explore" rather than hike the Aiea loop trail for kicks.
I used to visit Japan all the time (1/2 my family still lives there!) and it was great... I don't know what I'd do over there for work though.
I think I could make Vegas work. I just want a job that doesn't make me work insane hours for little pay without ever having the chance to buy a house unless I start selling organs (before they get pickled - which will be pretty soon!)

Vegas is cool...and I can relate to driving in random directions...its cool... road trips are so much fun. I like to surf and snowboard....but surfing is funner because the wave is moving...its like riding a wild animal
