An hour & 1/2 from LA...... an hour & 1/2 Vagas...........In the middle of the desert.
Also it's 13hrs away from home...Oregon.
Just don't know if I want to stay in or not.

I'd say Millbrae, California... it's a suburb of San Francisco that has warmer weather, nicer people, and lots of great Chinese restuarants. It's like a quiet town, but it's only about 15-20 minutes south of San Francisco. Living in San Francisco, I can say that it isn't as nice as it used to be. Overcrowding, out-of-stater n00bs, and welfare moochers are a b*tch. I personally wouldn't mind moving out of the City and into Millbrae.
I also like Kailua, HI a lot. Manoa Heights too. I'd move to either in a heartbeat.
If I could move anywhere in the world, I'd consider Singapore. It's clean, it's wealthy, it's low-crime, and the people are very laid-back. A very stable country. But maybe kinda boring sometimes; good thing it's only about 3.5 hours from Hong Kong and 7 hours from Japan

Rebecca sez......If we get out of the Army and move Oregon, we have to get a CRV or Forester as the 2nd car.
But.......
If we stay in and move to Ft. Irwin, I can get an S2000 as the 2nd car.

I have a few votes for "favorite places". All for different reasons.
1. Colorado- I jsut moved out here, but so far it is great. This place is SUBARU HEAVEN. On my street alone there are 16-20 Subaru's. Most are Legacy/Outbacks, but they are still Subaru's. Having the mountains a 30 minute drive away is awesome. If you want to go up hiking, you don't have to go far, and if you want snow... There is snow on Pikes Peak, or any of the front range almost 365 days a year. People are genuinely friendly. They have Target! There are at least 3 tracks within 1 and a hlaf hours drive that are rentable. A group of 30 guys can rent a track and get insurance for $30-50 per person. All day. The ClubWRX guys do it about once a month (one tomorrow, but I can't make it). If you get tired of the mountains, I can drive an hour east and not even see them anymore. It is sunny 300+ days a year, and the weather is pretty stable. Feb-Apr can be COLD, but it's NOT Minnesota. This place is packed with hot women. Not a great thing for married-old-me, but for others...
2. Minnesota. I grew up there, so I have a special place in my heart for the land of 10,000 lakes. There are 4 DISTINCT seasons. Down south it is flat and open, but if you go 2 hours north it is all hilly and wooded. Minneapolis has got to be one of the coolest cities evar, and it is SO easy to get around. 4 million people with TONS of secondary highways with 2-3 lanes. If one throughfare is blocked, it is EASY to find a way around. Contrast Hawaii with H-1, 78, and Ala Moana Blvd. through Honolulu. Once again, people are really nice. I am an abberation since I'm kind ofa dick, but most MN people are truly kind-hearted and helpful. The weather can destroy it for some people, but I like the extreme changes (100+ in July and August to -60 in Nov-Mar).
3. Kentucky. I jsut left there, and I loved the landscape. Hilly and wooded with ALL THE BOURBON YOU COULD EVER THINK TO DRINK FOR CHEAP! I lived within 20 minutes of Jim Beam, Makers Mark, and a whole bunch of other distilleries of FINE Kentucky Bourbon Whiskey. The Kentucky Derby is one HUMONGOUS 3-day party. Night life in Louisville is awesome. Go to Bardstown Road and pick one of the 30 bars, all with sonething different. O'Sheas has the hottest collection of wimenz I've ever seen under one roof.
4. Korea. Anyone who has ever been on an unaccompanied tour to "The land of the morning stench" may disagree with me, but I love Korea. Seoul is awesome, and when you get into the countryside, you remember that most koreans really DO like American soldiers. There is no better place than Seoul to party. Cheap drink, hot and loose women, legalized prostitution (for cheep) if that's your thing. Cool foreigners (go to the Seoul Pub in Itaewon and chat up the Brits, Kiwi's, Irish, Canadians, French, etc.) to have a great beer with and maybe more (Korean blood, british accent, leather pants, black thong...). Easy to get around (the subway is AMAZING. There is no place in Seoul you can't get on the Subway) including CHEAP taxi's. Cool shopping. 15 million people (8 million women). Gateway to teh rest of Asia.
That is my list.

Thanks for the list, Greg. One of the greatest selling points to being in the military has to be the ability to travel the world and find your "spot", huh? Hope Colorado turns out to be a great place to raise your daughter.

Rich,
San Antonio is a nice place, ... I was there over New Years and was impressed with what I saw. There is always something 'Interesting' going on (unlike here), and the city is just 'nice'. Usually, I know how I feel about a city after only a couple weeks, so I think my opinion wouldn't change if I lived there. I plan on going to school at UT at Austin if I get picked up for the program I'm shooting for.
I've been told by a few close friends that Houston sucks, I'm not sure why they don't like it, but I trust thier opinion. Dunno about the Dallas/Ft. Worth area, ... it seems very 'busy'. There are A Lot of different things available in the area to meet most peoples needs. (lots of performance shops too)
Tennessee is a very nice state as well, I grew up in Memphis, nice place, but I don't plan on going back. The state as a whole is beautiful though! Great place to raise a family IMO!! Mountains on the east, rivers/lakes towords the west. But I like being next to the ocean now...
I'm headed to San Diego in July though, ... I lived there for about 4 months before, ... I fell in love with the atmosphere. I compare it to here, ... has a lot of the "nice" things I love about Hawaii (the Weather, scenery, the ocean, etc), ... but doesn't have the 'downsides' I don't like about here (Distance from Everything, claustrophobic 'feeling, costs of everything, etc).
I'm looking forward to trips to Mexico, and just road trips in general. And HOT chics, .... Nice Hot Chics, .... unlike here. People may argue the point, but the 'general public' in SoCal has more hot chics than this place, ... and in general, people have more of an "open mind".
I'm extremely sick of the "you gotta be a part of my click or I'm not talking to you" attitude. I've been around the world and haven't experienced that to the extent I have here. I love everybody equally, and hate equally as well. LOL
anyhow, SoCal is cool.
... what am I still doing awake??
