test drive - S2000 ... WOW
I like the s2k, better than a 350z.
s2k is not a easy car to drive IMO, when I test drove one, it was pretty scary... to go to fast in cornering. Compared to the Evo, after couple of miles, I was very comfortable with the car... very easy to handle.
s2k is something different since of course it's not AWD, handling will depend of the driver ability. AWD are great and fun, but if you really want to play with a car, RWD like the s2k is badass.
For a non turbo car, performance are awesome.

It is true that AWD gives novices lots of confidence in driving. Especially the EVO since most everything is computer controlled. From every review I have read the STi take more effort and a gives a skilled driver more room to control the car. On the Best Motoring video that one Japanese dude won't shut up about how the EVO won't let him do a thing. RWD is definitly where it is at for skill. I loved my 240, and I'll pick up another one once I get out of debt.

I've
driven the S2000 (Joey's), and raced it (supercharged version, again Joey's). It's fast, but not that fast IMHO. My WRX with a stock turbo was consistently faster with street tires vs S2K R-compound tires. It's well engineered, but I feel it could use a bit more displacement to justify it's cost. When I've been behind Joey's S2K watching him drive, his car is a handfull. I honestly think it loses time due to having to compensate for the rear end getting loose. I like the S2000, but I think that to make it significantly better will take major money. I say that because the stock car is so balanced, modifying it requires carefull consideration. There are many high-dollar parts for the S2000 that actually lose power over stock. Not saying Subies don't have the same problems. S2000, nice car, but it's so nicely done stock, it's going to cost a bunch to make it better. Mach5WRX, granted the STI is heavy. Between the S2K and your STI there has to be about 600 lbs or more. Bottom line, I really like the S2K. I really like Joey's S2K. But I'd rather drive my car at the track vs a modified S2K. I honestly think my car is easier to drive, and faster as well. And I haven't even driven my car with the 17X8.5 R-compounds yet. Opinions vary.

The S2000 is not the fastest car in the world. But I didn't get it for that. The car feels great, looks great, drives great and it's not slow.

^^ thats true- i mean come on if i really wanted a FAST car that handles great at an exellent price- i'd follow in steve's footsteps and get a used vette- but i'd like to keep my budget under 23k, plus the convertible top is an attractive feature that i've never had before- and i'd keep the car stock.... and maybe that neat hardtop with the PIMP rack with rollers!

the s2k is a great roadster period! go-kart like handling, great braking and a screaming engine. that's what makes it so fun to drive imo.
dan, wait till you take it down pch with the top down!
