test drive - S2000 ... WOW
we have one(2001) with 14k miles.... i've driven my friends one- but that was last year. i've driven the 2005's.... and because this one has mileage on it i can drive it a little harder than a new one-
all i can say is WOW. cornering, heel toe, shifting up--- all those felt SO GOOD. what lacked in torque made up in everything else- i love the seats....
the whole time my heart was pounding- its been a while since i've had that feeling in a car. i never brought it below 5k rpms. - man i want this car.
my STi has been good to me- but this car is so PRECISE- and the shifter feels so TIGHT..... oh my.. my heart is still pounding.
as fun as it is , i still love my car, and know where i want it to be....

I've been trying to convince my mid-life-crisis-having sister into buying a S2000.
Yes, so smooth and refined compared to WRX. I, too, was extremely impressed during the test drive although I couldn't beat on it cuz it was new.
She wants a convertible that is a "young person's car", is reliable and under $45k.
She nixed it because she lives in the Oakland Hills as I tried to convince her that's where a manual tranny really shines.
She was intrigued by the MB SLK350 but I told her MB reliability of late sucks.
I threw out Elise but she's not that into driving a noisy enthusiast's car.
Now, I'm thinking MX-5 is the car for her. Dumbasses at Mazda decided to nix "Miata" name and all its brand equity. Just like Acura did with the Legend and Integra. Will these suckas ever learn?
I'm still hoping she'll get the S2000, get tired of it and dump it on me for cheap.

Im not much for Hondas especially now that the RS has a new breath of life in it, but I have always loved the S-2000 and I have always wanted to drive one so it good to hear that a Subaru lover enjoyed it, probably means I would too. Wish I could take one out for a spirtied drive

having ***** is one thing- but i can honestly say that i have yet to master the power of the STi- driving the S2K really made my heart pump because all i can think about is how accurate this car is - yeah the STi will make up in the straights, but man just the feeling of pointing the car where it is supposed to go and feeling like you're on rails.... i've missed that feeling- i can imagine the elise- multiply my feeling by 10!
to make my STi feel that way will require a little more effort/$ but i see where i really want to be now- i'm still WOW.
and i agree, i like the rawness of the older versions

The S2000 is a good car but WRX and STis are such manly beasts of a car. As of late I can't stand the sound of Hondas, that monotonous drone is irritating. I really wouldn't want to be seen in an S2000. IMHO it's too girly-man as Ahhnold would say.
