Suggestions...plz???

As some of you know I fried a couple coilpacks....just changed out the coilpacks, but found that one of the plugs that connects to the coilpacks melted

Here's the where everyone else comes in....

1)should I just cut the extra harness and solder the wires onto the harness that's on the car
2)completely replace the wire harness

kind of don't want to do option 2, but will it cause any electrical problems if the wires are soldered onto the existing harness???

thanks, Mike

i say figure out why you fried your packs in the first place.. so that it wont happen again. that way if you just solder the wires like option 1 (which is an ok fix)(if you know that there is no other damage to the rest of the harness) you wont have to worry about not having a clip and harness if the problem happens again.

any idea why you fried a coilpack?

here's blow by blow what happened, the only thing I can think of what went wron g is that TurboXS has 3 different upgrade files to the firmware for the STI <don't ask me why they did this> and I uploaded the wrong file causing the car to do what it did, I re-uploaded another of the files and everything ran fine besides the burnt coilpacks....all map cycled when changed to each number, perams ran fine on data logger, the prior file did none of the sort and below is what had happened....although this is only a guess of the cause of the problem...

Well... How's you soldering skills? Of course if you know the proper way to solder and I'm not talking about you local cell phone modification shop style soldering skills then I'd say go for it since it'll save you a lot of momey. Before doing that though make sure that nothing else is damaged. If you do know how to solder properly then this is the best option. If your skills are of cell phone mod shop dont eben attempt it sonce you could do more damage than good.

Good luck

Jon

Soldering is not a problem...........I'll probably go that route it's just $hitty to an uncut harness get farked for one connector, but replacing the whole harness will take way too long and be a PITA

actually it's taking it off that's the problem. putting it back is quite easy

where are you going to get the other connector from?

good luck

like i mentioned earlier along with infek, just make sure nothing else is damaged.. and if it looks ok and you have decent soldering skills then you should be fine with the quick fix.

F'in Great Success.......car runs like a champ.......

Infek-I had to buy an entire harness, but it was a cheap price for harness, but expensive for a plug........no one would sell me cut pieces of a harness, I wouldn't either

anyway my car runs awesome...

new plugs, fresh harness plugs a freaking smile from ear to ear......PRICELESS!!!!
