Recon
So...
to make a long story short my car has not been able to pass recon the past two months because of suspension. I have STI struts & STI Pinks lowering springs, curious as to how others have passed ???
Problem should be taken care of.... Thank you!
Still open to other suggestion though

I just passed my recon last week. Admittedly I was afraid that because of the stiffness of the suspension that I would not pass. I am currently running Cusco Zero 2E coilovers, yes they are stiff when pushing down on the chassis (almost no give), but it rides better than when I had stock STi struts with Prodrive springs when set at the softest setting. The person doing my inspection perhaps understood the sporting nature of the STi's suspension and acknowledged the size of the pistons of the struts. Just exactly what did the inspector say to you in regards of the cars suspension stiffness? The inspector did mention that they are looking for 2" of suspension travel, but I doubt you would even get that with lowering springs.

If I were you, I would consider not getting it recon'd for just the sti struts/pinks combo.
I haven't seen your wagon with your new suspension, but, the pinks really don't lower the car all that much...especially the front. Unlike the look of S-Techs and others that lower your car drastically...your pinks have a very conservative drop...
I've run the Prodrive springs on Sti struts and didn't get bothered by police...the pinks are similar to the drop of these...
Your other alternative is to temporarily put your stock wrx struts on...

I think a lot of it depends on who inspects the car. I passed with my Tein SS-P's. I was practically jumping on the front edge of the fender trying to "make" 2 inches of suspension travel. Luckily I didn't damage my newly painted sedan fenders.

Yeah I was hoping not to have to bother with recon but I took my WRX to 5 places in the Kapolei/ Ewa/ Waipahu area and no one would touch it.
My 2.5i had the same suspension on it when I took it in for inspection and it passed with no problem
It must be the hood scoop
Oh well, thanks for the info. My car is going back to stock for now because I need it to pass inspection in order to get it on the Superferry.
lol, I guess I will keep "bouncing" my suspension for practice and hope I get someone different on the 28th.

How the heck do they even know how high Subaru's naturally ride?
It's not like you're dropped to the ground right? As far as I know, that combo should be a mild drop.

hey mike brought up something at the last meeting about how vague the laws are ive been doing some research and the law hasent been changed or re written in over 20 years and is extremely un-clear as to exactly what has to be recon-ed other than that the car needs to be safe according to the dot seems like we may need to write our reps and let them know that the law NEEDS to be changed or at least re written cause from what ive seen my car anyways is ALOT safer than most run down beach mobiles i see on the road even being re-constructed so to say.....
