Hey, I dont know you either - and I also dont like your post bashing ME! True I may be a relative noob as a subaru owner, but I have accomplished quite a bit for the short period of time that I had my car! And Im still learning! I may not be a certified mechanic but I have a lot of years experience working on VWs tuning/mods! How many people do you know that turned a FWD watercooled 16.9 sec 81.0mph car into a 14.2 sec 96.7mph without adding (Nitrous/Turbo/Supercharger/Electronic Fuel Injection) as well as retaining the full interior - NO GUTTING! Old school tuning with CIS-E! And if you hope to see me in your rearview...you better be running mid 12s or better Old Man!

Yes, but Chris and Wes (and Richard, Andrew, and Jayson...now JTSTi) are the real studs.

I break cars.

Ask around,

I don't drag race, I race around the entire track. My stock 2.0 block has schooled quite a few (even on the stock turbo). My stock turbo WRX was .02 behind Egmar in an STI (one of the better drivers on the island). Give me the same tires and it's not even close. I really don't like how you're talking smack about SpeedGear. That's it. My screen name is oldmansan, calling me an old man is redundant. This ain't rocket science Einstein.

I disagree with all of this "A dyno is need to properly tune your car" crap. My car was road tuned first... It is a more real world compared to a dyno tune. Dynoing a car doen't take into consideration the wind hitting the intercooler (yes you can put a fan in from of the car... great) or the actual load of running the car on the road.

Many "dyno tuned" cars have come off the dyno only to run like crap, knock, or simply blow up. I am not knocking the dyno, but most tuners will tune the car on a dyno then take it out to finish off the tune with a little road tuning. The guys at TXS do this a lot of the time. I tuned my car completely on the road. Tuned it with Phil (element tuning) and it runs great. I still have yet to get to the track to see what it can actually do, but I will one of these days.

pretuned maps are just what most of you are saying... safe. They need to be messed with a lot. I did a lot of changing to my TXS stg 4 Utec map and I noticed the difference. The accessport vs Utec argument is not a very valid one yet... accessport is to new. The Utec has a ton of people running in the 12's and 11's. Accessport has a hand full. Give it time and see if it actually is better before ripping the Utec. The biggest problem with the Utec is usually the user tuning it. I found that out when I tried to tune mine. After going and spending time with Phil, I now know what I was doing wrong.

Very good points. What are your credentials beyond paying someone to tune your car for you?

I wrote a really long response to this, but I'm not going to post it. If anyone would like to have an educated talk over some Starbucks Give me a call, if you need my number PM me and I'll send it to you. **** we may even like each other. I'm just not going to argue on the internet like a couple of kids.
