haha.

Ya, go there.
A brand new crank is around 300.
Was the crank scored, and is that why you had them try and resize the journals?

What did they stamp your head with? I've had them O-ring a few of my heads, and they never left a stamp. Was it to discern driver from passsenger side?

It was a slightly damaged crankshaft. I was going to use over sized bearings.

After machining:
It wouldn't rotate smoothly in the block halves when torqued properly.

So I double checked all of my clearance, and journal diameters. Then checked all of the bearing's thickness. Just to make sure ACL didnt make a mistake.

I sent the crankshaft to my old machine shop in South Carolina. They said the one of the main journals was machined off center.

I asked mark to show me the machine that they turn the crankshafts on, it looks to be about 30 years old. I'm guessing it wasn't operater mistake. Probably not a problem with the accuracy, but a problem with precision due to worn out equipment.

bought a new crankshaft from subaru...no problems.

the heads were stamped with the amount of material removed. .012

deeply, with nearly 1/2" tall numbers.

Who would have a problem knowing the difference between driver and passenger side? haha, if someone can't figure that out...they shouldnt even be pumping their own gas. I would hate to see innocent people die in a freak gasoline fight accident.

What application have you done o-rings with?

I've never tried it. I've never had a problem using factory gaskets and ARP studs. But 440 to the wheels is the most powerful I've built.

It was a 4g63
I started to blow gaskets when I started experimenting with nitrous and big boost
I used to even hand lap the surface to try and get it to seal
The egts were just too high but it was a drag car so it was fine to do a ring refresh
The orings solved it.

Actually I had a sleeved b18 oringed too

Orings are unecessary for most cars on pump gas or even race gas if the surfaces are under a certain RA
But when the pressures spike like a sudden nitrous shot it helps

Be straight up with him about your budget, and ask him flat out what the downtime will be.

I think Seth uses Ted's becasue it's right down the street, but he may use Snyders if you ask him for it specifically.
Yup, call Seth at sonic. He has pulled both my wrx and sti motors. Done timing belt and clutch in both my cars. Shameless self plug---are you looking for a motor? Buy mine If your motor needs to be rebuilt, he can do it...he's actually been getting a lot of broken subarus lately...
