hair dryer isn't necessary especially if you are out in a parking lot.
waxed dental floss and a bottle of goo gone works great. get some little towels also. what you do first is take the floss and remove the letters first. don't worry about the residue. after you're done, put goo goo on a piece of towel and rub away. if you have short finger nails, you can gently scrub them off underneath the towel. Should be only a few minutes of work. Don't rush or else you can mess up and scratch your paint. When you're done, you can go ahead and wax the car

So in Summary:
1) Park it in the sun for a while
2) Break out the wax dental floss and start flossing. Take your time and don't be surprised if you go through a bit of floss
3) Use WD40, Goo Gone, Goof Off, etc.. to remove the remaining adhesive.
4) You may have to use something (nail, credit card, etc..) to remove the larger chunks just be careful not to scratch.
5) Wash it down and put some Wax on.
