contemplating a new car...

okay, so the drift lude died on me, and my mom's van was giving her some problems, so i gave her my blazer and took her '94 astrovan...

so i was out looking at cars the past few weeks...i was looking at the accord, camry, and mazda 6...out of all those, i liked the mazda 6 the best...it handled pretty nice for what it is, and it looks the best of the 3. even got a pretty good deal on it, but after doing more research, it seems as those cars have a lot of issues...

so now, i'm considering a wrx...i need something that can seat four, good mileage, and an AUTO trans...(in case my mom or aunty needs to borrow it)...any recommendations as to what else i should look at??? looking for the "right" car is driving me nuts...it also needs to be fairly "inexpensive" since i'll be getting the new Z06 when it debuts...

so the question is how much did you guys pay for your 04 wrx??? and from where??? also, how does the auto drive in it??? i know i'll have to go and do a test drive to find out for myself, but what's the opinions on it??? thanx guys...

as a side note- i would like to buy it from schuman, as they help sponsor the track days and stuff, but price is the bottom line for me...(i would always pay my own track day entry fees anyway)...

Auto tranny in the wrx has a chance to break into the 15's barely. If you don't care about "track" performance, auto is pretty good actually. Responds well to mods if you wanna do it. But so far its been reliable. I have had no problems with my tranny yet. The lag is good for bumper to bumper driving so you don't waste gas by going into boost so soon but there when you throttle it. Quite responsive. I would also look into the new Legacy GT in the auto form. Its a few grand above the rex.

driving a wrx wagon and an sti... i dunno automatic just won't cut it for me(at least for a wrx) my opinion wait for the turbo legacy to come out. if your mom/aunty will be driving it the comfort on a legacy will be more "feasible". unless your mom and aunty actually like the impreza ride. without tryin' to sound like i'm sellin u somethin- - we do have 1 2003 wrx left(in auto) it's a wagon though.(wrbcolor)

03 or 04??? 22k sounds great, but was it out the door, or 22k plus fees? as far as the auto, i dont plan on any mods for the car...and the gf and me will be the ones using it the most, just maybe when i do service to my mom's/auntie's cars will they use it...

i wont be racing it, as that's what the m3 is for...

i was gonna post this in a new thread, but i figure why start a new one...

some of you already know that i was gonna go to the porsche/rover dealership today to make an offer on the white 03 E46 M3 that they had on the lot...my original plan was to not go over 47.5k, but my last offer i gave them was 48.5k, out the door...i told them i'd pay in cash (ok, cashiers check, but same smell)...and they didnt want roll the deal...

my salesman was saying someone was looking at it and offered 49+, and there was a trade in the deal...i told him that i was there, ready to buy, no trade in...and if he wanted to go for the deal with the trade, then i understood...he said he'd try to get a deal with me since i was already there, and that the guy with the trade was interested, but didnt commit yet...

my salesman was okay, but his manager, uh- to put it nicely, wasnt as good...after my initial offers, my salesman offered 47.5 plus fees, but then the manager came out later and stated 48.x plus fees, which made it 50k out the door...i shook their hands and said sorry we couldnt do business today...i then told my salesman, "call me in case..." at which point the manager said "the price wont change, it all comes down to me!!!" i said, "i know...i was just gonna say 'call me in case something interesting comes in' but if you dont want me to come back, that's fine" then i started to walk out the door...

at this point, the manager says "how about the red BMW?" which was a 325/323?!? i said "no thanks, if its not an M3, i'm not interested." the manager started to make small talk, but i said thank you and walked out...

my girlfriend was a little disappointed we didnt buy it, but she didnt want to spend more than 48.5 also...

so we're still looking for a car...
