i just did my change today. i used the 5w30. my car does consume a little bit of oil but amsoil holds way better than any other oil ive ever used. i used it in all my bmw's and other cars as well. but 110 for the case seems a bit high? i got 5 quarts and a filter for 60 bucks from the guy ive been buying from for a few years now. the amsoil engine flush works well too and id recomend it if this is your first change.

If your engine consumes oil have you considered moving up to 10w30? I really hope im not getting ripped off on a 12qt case of oil. That would pretty well kill any future business with this amsoil dealer. I know there are different grades oil amsoil. Not sure which one your using. Maybe thats why its a bit more.

The Amsoil dealer recommended the 10w30 for my car. Any reason i should not go with this weight? It does say either 5w or 10w is acceptable in the owners manual.

I'm not too sure on the grade. I havnt really checked. But the most I've paid was the 10w30 for my old g35. And for that I paid 60 bucks before the price increase that they recently had. At first, when me and my dealer looked up my subie, it recommended their new 0w30 for somereason. But I refused and just stuck with the 5w30. I'm sure my car consumes oil because of the way I drive. I tend to drive a little hard. But it's not significant. Maybe half a quart every 3k miles.

Good to know. So far ive driven about 4k and no oil consumption at all. The car does only have 30k on it but i pay attention anyway. I do drive it pretty hard but also its my commuter so alot of cruising.
Ill try to find somewhere they sell amsoil in san jose and compare the price to this other guy.

Anyone know a place where i can Amsoil in San Jose?

Might be a couple dollars more per quart but getting free filters helps. And with the oil analysis maybe going a few more miles between oil changes also.
If you want to keep your warranty, you'll need to change your oil at therecommended intervals. The factory doesn't care if it's synthetic or conventional, just as long as you follow the intervals and have the oil grade that they recommend or a better one.

go to the amsoil website to find dealers in your local area. all of the dealers i've dealt with through the website have never gone over the prices you would pay on the amsoil website. alot of them give you great deals once you become a regular.
