If you don't feel like hacking up your oem silencer, you can replace it with the gpmoto elbow:

I guess anywhere from -1 to 2. It makes your car sound better, and kinda helps the turbo spool up. Kinda.

Ok Listen up.. Hopefully I don't let you down.

The reason I did it is because I FEEL the car breathe better with the snorkel and silencer off. If you have had your silencer on for a while and then take it off you will hear a big difference and notice a little difference. For the people who say their car drives the same, well I guess some people are more technical then others. To me it was worthless having it on because I am doing CAI and that crap needs to come out anyway.

You can hear the car sucking air so you know its working. To me, it's not like the "new thing" to do or anything I see that part on my car as dead weight even if it is only 1 pound.

Just rip the whole thing out... if you don't think it did anything, put it back on.

Theres my 2 cents.. Hope it helps.

If you pull the plastic gasket holder out from the airbox after removing the silencer, you increase the opening into the box from 5.73 sq/in to 9.6 Sq/in

From here:

http://www.scoobymods.com/forums/sho...=&threadid=167

So it opens up the airbox to more flow.

Here's how I removed it from my F-XT but it's similar in all the subaru's I've removed them from with MAF's:

I also say do it, why do you need a big piece of plastic in your fender? It totally helps the car breath, which in turn helps spool up. The only function of the silencer is to silence the noise created by the intake.

I did the mod on my 05' and the car sounds a little better. i dont know if there is any performance gain. It was fun just working on the car though and seeing whats under the fender and how it all goes together.

I've never seen the numbers on that before...very interesting...in theory it should let the car breath better...

Does anyone know if the 05' Baja Turbo has the same silencer? If so, i would like to do the same for my wifes ride.
