If you ask the dealer the sti has a governor set at 145 mph. Also on the stock powertrain the max speed(drag limited) is 155 mph. I hit 140 on the freeway and the car was pulling like is that all you got. I'll admit it scared me

There was a thread on here a while back that said 145ish was the top speed. Now IIRC, after 120 it was slow going, but that might have been for the WRX. These are small engined turbo cars so top end pull will suffer. You can of course always get a larger turbo to get around that top end lull.

Do a search for the thread: max out in Colorado. Or some thing like that.

Well ok, two modfied cars against a stock STi, that seems like a fair comparo. Seriously though you can mod an STi and make it just as fast. Have you seen the track built STi thread, the owner guy says it pulls like a V8 and he's "only" putting out 306WHP. You have people like SubyDude with 400+WHP, I can't remember his exact WHP number.

The STi might not be a great drag because the AWD will typically make it start a bit slower than a RWD car, but on the freeway starting from a dead stop usually isn't a problem you need to be worried about.

Also, tell your friends to slow it down and think of the other people on the intersate.

awd definitely gets off the line quicker than rwd, especially on the street.

yeah i think he was a bit confused^^^ as long as you know how do drive ur car you can out launch a rwd car with twice ur horse power as long as it isnt like prostreet or something. thats the beauty of awd.

An Sti can easily be tuned to not only beat, but demolish a 350z or z28 on the track. Of corse if they have a supercharger, or turbo installed, things will be more even. But the cost of reasonalbe tuning for the STI vs. the others is about $2000 vs. $6500 since buying a turbo or Supercharger will necessary with those two RWD beast.
