10w30 synthetic and hose cause problem? help
anyways. i installed my samco 9ply hoses yesterday. got 5 of them in, 3 didn't fit. was too lazy to install the other one.
then i put 10w30 royal purple synthetic with puralator filter.. i know is not the best filter, but i couldn't find K&N hp-1008 anywhere so yea.
now if i am going around 40mph in fifth gear and guns it...when the psi reaches around 14.5psi, (around 2700rpm), the rpm would shoot up to around 4000 then back-off and be where it suppose to be again.
samething happens in 6 gear going at 50mph.
any idea what could've caused this? did something go wrong in the hose installation? can't be the oil can it?
please help and thanks.

i dunt think any hoses are loose.
it only happens when the psi are higher and only for a short period of time.
i guess should be the clutch
i have 12000 miles on the car
should be close to 300whp

Again, what hoses did you replace? I didn't know Samco made anything that fit the STi. If it's only happening at high boost, that could be a sign that you've got a leak somewhere.

got the 9 ply hoses. not all of them fit
only 7 of them fit.
is mostly radiator related.
but i believe it is the clutch for sure now. cuz when it happen again today, the rpm didn't stop going up.. and soon after i smelled clutch.

Yes, it sounds like the clutch is slipping, but just so that we have all the necessary info - you haven't changed out any intercooler hoses or intake pieces or anything else connected to the intake or turbo path?
When the engine RPM shoots up, you can see the tachometer needle climb and hear the engine rev, but there's no accompanying rush of acceleration, correct? And now you smell clutch. And it's more likely to do it in the higher (numerical) gears rather than 1st or 2nd gear?

yea i can see needle climb fast but no rush of acceleration.
i haven't really seen it in lower gears.
it does happen in lower gear sometimes... when i start off really slow then all of a sudden step on it.
