switching to synth: mobil 1 10w30 or 5w30 and where to get in Bay Area?
Hey all, Been driving my wrx that I got in march and just reached my scheduled oil change. I'm wondering what oil you guys use and why (10w30 or 5w30)? I live in the bay area and go to school in socal and am up in the snow pretty rarely though would like the option. My car is running 5w30 penzoil from a dealer in san rafael and am looking to switch over to mobil 1 after I get a fumoto valve and a filter from the dealer. Also, where can I pick up mobil 1 at a good price? Thanks.

for everyday regular prices, Costco is one of the cheapest $24.XX/case of 6 and usually has plenty in stock. Not all locations carry 5w30 tho. Only one I've seen that has it in stock regularly is the Foster City one off the 92/101 interchange. All the others carry 10w/30.
Target & Walmart carry them too. Reg prices are about $4.50-$4.99/quart. Some Walmarts carry the 5qt jugs for about $20-21 reg price & $18 sale price (not often tho).
Hope this helps!

oops, i guess i should clarify that the only Costcos I ever go to are the downtown SF, SSF/San Bruno, SSF airport, and Foster City ones. Sorry, I HATE going to the East Bay!

I use Mobil 1 5w30 in my car. IMO, 5w30 is the way to go w/ a newer car due to its viscosity; a big help when it comes to lubricating new engine parts. I go to the Union City Walmart and pick up the 5 quart jug for around $20-. That's the best deal on Mobil 1 around that I've seen.
