yet another 3/16 mod question

Hi guys, sorry to bring up this topic once again but I can't seem to find the answer anywhere.

Well, today for some reason I just decided to go out a buy a 3/16" Vaccuum Connector at the local Pep Boys. I go home and install it, drive it to local Devry University next to my house to do a ECU reset. On the way there, I didn't notice much of a difference. I just drive off normally to get something to eat and go to a friend's house.

I was at a stop light next to a bunch cars. Once the light turned green I started driving and I'd hear a spooling noise. At first I thought it was the old truck next to me, but I found it weird that he would be shifting at the exact same time as me. So, I turned off all the music and rolled up the windows. It was my car. For some reason now, the turbo (or something else around that area) is really loud now. And later that night, I was driving some more and I got a CEL. I was like ***..

My question is, when you do a 3/16" mod, is your engine supposed to get louder? It maybe a leak, so I'm gonna take off my downpipe and retighten all those uppipe bolts tomorrow. Also, are you supposed to get a CEL after you do this mod? Now clumsy me, I forgot where I put the stock 1/8(?) restrictor at, so if i wanted to replace it, do I have to buy one from the dealership or can I just get a 1/8 one at the local hardware store?

My mods are: Header, Uppipe, Downpipe, Catback. '04 wrx
