Yet another - next mod thread
I'm musing about more horsepower yet again... and wondering what to do
The car is stock internals, the big stuff: Catted Downpipe, 16G Turbo GST Tune
Basics on my last power mods here:
https://www.i-club.com/forums/bay-ar...esults-257467/
With the Pearson E85 station opening in Atascadero, E85 is becoming a more viable option. I still wish there was a station in Monterey, but... oh well.
Before I go down that road, I would like to explore some other options
I'm kinda wondering if a header or cross pipe are worth my while?
Opinions/Suggestions are requested

I'm staying catted, don't need the smog headaches.
Still running the stock STi TMIC. I'm concerned about throttle response if I go to a larger intercooler. This car sees a lot of auto-x and throttle response is key.
I've also noticed that when I use my water sprayer between or during runs, it doesn't seem to really affect power. As a result I'm doubting my intercooler is heat soaking.
<edit > now I'm reading about the Grimmspeed unit. Hmmmm

If you're going to stay with the 16g then EL is probably not going to be worth the cost. However, the GS tmic is good for north of 400whp capable. There is an RSTi running around on that top mount making those numbers albeit on a Dom 1.5 iirc... They found the limit to be sure.
What was the limiting factor in power at your last tune @ gst? Heat? Fuel? Boost? The GS unit has to be more efficient than the stock.

Definitely recommend EL headers. Just all around more efficiency is nice.
While every car is a bit different, I was able to hit 280/320 at GST with stock turbo and air box, and running this tune for several years. Main parts Tomei EL header (wrapped), chatted DP ( Titek or knockoff), and Cobb exhaust with GST 3-inch mod, lol.
Have you done EBCS yet? Went with the Grimmspeed one recently and the response of the turbo to throttle tip-in has increased. Feels more "peppy".

I also recommend EL header, I'm going that route soon and replacing my uel one I have now.
