yet another exhaust question
One of the first mods I wanna do with my rex is replace the exhaust, but Im not planing on making a 400 hp moster. that said, i was wondering whats the best way to go. I was kinda leaning thwords the TurboXS Super-Stealth, but then I saw the Vishnu downpipe and have heared great things about it. So now im back to where I started. I realy dont think I need a full 3" turbo back or for that matter a 3" cat back, like I said not looking for 400 hp. Also am I ganna need to et a new ecu if all Im doing is an exhaust and intercooler upgread, or would a reflash be a better choice? thanx for any input

if all your going to do is exhaust, engine management or a reflash is not really necessary, but in the same regard, it will add to performance gained by the exhaust.
if you are planning on only doing exhaust and staying mostly stock, you might want to look up the scoobysport exhaust. good for what you speak of and an awesome sound.
again this is just my opinion, but i wouldn't change out the intercooler for a bigger one unless you plan on going with a larger turbo, as a larger ic will just add lag.

I guess the most important question is: what do you actualy want?
you said you're not looking at 400hp deal... but do you still want performance increase?
for exhaust I'd strongly recomend looking into the latest "Turbo and High Performance" magazine. they compaired about 15 different Turbo back systems for the WRX. also a few months back they did the same thing with Catback systems for the WRX. Definitly if you'd like to know what exhaust is for you look at that.
also you said you're not looking at making lots of power... so why are you looking at an intercooler? not really nessary unless you're upgrading the turbo or doing something else that would be creating lots of power. I dont understand where you were going with that.
as far as an ECU goes it's definitly worth it. from my research I'd go with the Unichip as their people seem to be best at tuning the chips and a chip is only as good as the tuner. an ECU will improve power and drivability all round. and as far as "bang for the buck" well worth the money over any other mod even if you're remaining stock otherwise.
all in all with a couple grand an exhaust and ECU is the way to go.
