Whats wrong with my car???

I have a 2002 wrx with a turbo xs bov and a cold air intake hacked into a short ram intake. Today I installed a 3 inch catless downpipe. I took it out for some trial runs to see the improvment. It has good power up to 4000 rpm then there is a blank spot in the acceleration were u can feel the car slow in acceleration between 4000rpm-5000rpm. Once I hit about 5100rpm I can feel the power kick in and come on stronger than at any other range in the rpms (one time the car shook when the acceleration regained the kindof feeling you get just before a car stalls, that back and forth jarring feeling)
So my question is: What is wrong with my car???? Is this dangerous???

Do you still have the factory airbox (snorklepuss)? Try replacing it and see if the power curve smooths out.

I would second the notion that your air intake is making your car run too lean, and is prolly pulling a lot of timing to try to adjust.
try to get your hands on a stock airbox and see if that helps you.

Thanks ALOT to everyone The problem is now fixed I took out the intake and put the stock air box back in, disconnected and reconnected the batery and pluged off a valve on the downpipe a little better drove easy for a littlebit then tried again and there was no blank spot
I timed a run from 30KM/H to 130KM/H when I first had the downpipe on then again after I fixed that blank spot. The blank spot cost me a little over 2 seconds!!! Which, as we know is quit a big deal.
Thanks.
