i am thinking of trying amsoil.
i dunno i don't keep oil in my car long enough to
form any real opinion or data on how it performs.
all i can really say is that conventional oil sucks for wrx/STi's(i have both)

WORD...DO NOT USE CONVENTIONAL AFTER THE BREAK IN PERIOD!
RP is nice...it actually micro-polishes your surfaces and bearings...I've seen electron microscope pictures of what it and full sythetic does to bearings and it is UNREAL! I mean...RP makes the thing look totally smooth and that's looking at it with an electron microscope! INCREDIBLE!!! I'm using full-synthetic right now but plan to change to RP.
HEY G...where did you find RP in Hawaii?
For tranny and diffs I intend to copy the subaru rally teams and use Neo...I've been having problems getting into first unless I go down to like 5 mph.

Mobile 1 here too! I have a question though. What is the point with changing oil viscosity in hotter weather. Does it really matter if it is 60 degrees or 100 degrees outside, I mean your engine operates at temperatures well above those. So changing your oil to deal with outside ambient temps seems kinda silly to me.... Obviously for colder / winter temps you need a different viscosity. I remember seeing commercials on tv for duralube and other products that test cars in "the hot arizona sun" I think they could have gotten the same results in New Jersey! Just a thought.
Mobil 1 5w30.
My friends dad works for Penszoil. Words from his mouth: "Mobil 1 is the best stuff you can get outside of the super-expensive boutique racing oils."
In fact, apparerntly oil companies like to test their competition, and according to him after 3-4 changes with Mobil 1 to flush out all the dino, they found that the oil was in as good shape at 10,000 miles as it was at 5,000.

Anyone try Valvoline VR1? My friend uses it in his motorcycles and his single turbo Supra. Says it's the best oil you can buy
