Engine/Power - EJ20T (pre-2006 WRX and JDM) There is replacement for displacement, it is forced induction - OEM 2.0 liter turbo engines in the USDM WRX. 90-94 Legacy Turbo EJ22 turbo engines can also be discussed here.

Question Is MY BOV Making Me Slower?

So my mods are listed below and the best I could squeeze out of my beast last year was a 13.8 on the 1/4 mile. Last night, I had what I thought was a near perfect run and the best I could manage was a 14.2? With this setup, do you think my BOV is making me slower? I'll take any advice or times that someone else is running with stage 2 also to see how I compare and thanks in advance for any comments.

yes, that BOV will make your car slower. Rich between shifts = loss of power

Well that sucks. I'm really gonna miss that thing...Do you think I'll need it if I upgrade the turbo to something like a VF39?

So dump the blow off valve and go back to the stock or STI BOV that I got with the STi TMIC then?

What are your 60-foot times like? What is your average trap speed at the end of the 1/4-mile? At a drag strip at sea level, I would expect a 2.0 liter WRX with your mods to cut low to mid-13 second E.T.s. If you are having trouble with the launch, your E.T. will suffer a lot.

Your 60-foot time is okay but you should try to get down to the 1.8 second range or better. Your trap speed seems a little on the low side for your mods. I'm thinking that a tuned 2.0 liter car with full turboback exhaust should be trapping around 98 to 100 mph. Even if your E.T.s are off by a little bit, your trap speed will remain pretty consistent as long as your engine is making the power. Have you ever had a higher mph than 96.86?

I have a catless uppipe and a 3" catback but still retain the factory downpipe/midpipe and two factory cats. Stock turbo. Off-the-shelf reflash. I turn times similar to yours with a best of 13.87 at ~96 mph, depending on whether I can get my 60-foot times down to the 1.80s or 1.90s.

When i pulled a 13.9 last year, I had a trap speed of just over 97mph or so. I'm going to take the BOV out, go back to stock and go from there. I know when I ran the 13.9, I had a 60' time of 1.9, so it all sounds about right. I know part of it is that i'm new at drag racing, but the car should still be a little fast I think for what i have.
