I recently got the K&N Typhoon intake system for my 03' WRX. I can noticably tell the added power in the low end but around the end of 3rd gear and all of 4th, it feels as if all power is dropping off. Any suggestions?

Typhoon is a CAI. Don't use it on a WRX. You don't need it, and it screws with air readings. Do a little searching and you'll see all the problems people have. Some tuning shops won't even play with your car if you have it on. Sell it on eBay and buy an uppipe and remove your resonator.

He's right, my cai is sitting on a shelf in my garage, I would sell it. But I don't want to rip off another wrx owner. Cai's without custom engine tuning (in most cases) don't provide any real gains, and only lead to tuning issues later on. Plus it sounds horrible. Sell it while it's still shiny and enjoy your car.
Aloha, there I just remove my aem cai and put back the orginal setup and just drop in a knfilter instead. Because I just added a uppipe and down with a reflash thru cobb tuning and the car runs great a simple tune with plenty of power.

Unless you're going to get a UTEC or other piggy back that has a map for the intake then it's just gonna cause your ride to lean out and ping. You could also get a reflash done at Cobb or Vishnu but that seems like a lot of crap to go through just so you can mount a CAI or short ram. Just settle for the K&N drop in air filter. I know you've already spent the money on the CAI but ya...it's better to enjoy your ride and save the engine some damage from leaning it out further.
Oh ya and if you want to try to reset the ECU then unplug your battery for about 7 minutes then plug it back in. Start the car and wait for the ECU to run it's loop and see if there are any further problems.

K&N is the classic example of an intelligent entrepreneur taking advantage of the sheer stupidity of the American public. This is a pretty box with big claims that comes with an air filter inside it. You aren't buying a product that's going to do isht for the performance of your car, you're buying an item for your car that needs periodic replacement. You bought the K&N either because you think it's going to give you "more HP" or because you think you won't ever have to spend the money to replace another air filter. Guess what? 95% of people who buy K&Ns have no idea how to "recharge" (again, $$ for K&N) their air filter and never intend to. They either buy another K&N or another no name air filter. Either way, K&N has just made off with a good amount of your money because you were tricked by their marketing campaign.
I don't mean to be harsh, but if you don't do research before you make purchases and actually believe what the person selling you the product is saying, then you are gullible and you deserve to have your money taken from you.
I really do hate K&N with a passion for some reason, even though I applaud the the people who came up with the concept because it's so simple and yet so insanely profitable.

Hmm! Soem hostility there for K&N. Kinda the same way I feel about GReddy. Anyways, I have a recharger kit in the hall closet and I do know how to use it. I have no beef with K&N and I've always liked their product simply for the longevety. Opinions I guess.
