Okay! any car can be set up to handle/perform according to the drivers specs. Look at the bang for the buck options here.
Who are they kidding on picking the Lan Evo over STi due to go kart like steering easy to drive off the line etc. (oh and 19.5 psi of boost on the Lan Evo WOW..!! good luck
) all in a days test drive yeah right, nothing is non adustable folks.
Wait till you get familiar with the car I say, face it it all boils down to "what you really want" and no one leaves the car stock anyway, so pick your ride wisely. The STi can be set up to do anything as well.
All the stats favor the STi dollar per dollar (you get more goodies period on an STi than the Lan Evo) and reviews from Mr. Pikes Peak record holder (Rod Millen) are all Mitsubishi bias due to Rhys sponsorship I really think he is bias so you go figure
.
My own take on all this, I like them both and when all the hype is gone, then I will get the STi and have Mike get the Lan Evo or vice versa heheheh (that would be really nice LOL). I love the curves on the STi period lol.
These are both great rides and nothing to compare here, about time they both hit the states.
cheers

I wonder what the next models on both manufacturers will be to top the ones here now ????????????? that will be exciting for Subaru but Mitsu will just have to bring all the AYC, ACD etc. and then dealers can sell them again at 10 k over MSRP LOL.

I don't care about redundancy!
Gino...I love the Evo because of it's looks! Because of it's powerplant, and because it is stiffer.
The JDM STi spec c's are just as fast, but don't corner nearly as well, and they are pretty ugly.
I am moving to Japan in March of 04...it is official...The wife and I have already decided that we are going to get a Evo VIII, VIII.5, or a IX...whichever is the latest...
I just can't wait...

the Rhys Millen sponsership "alluded" to earlier in this post is history...they are divorced. The Evo is possibly a better track car, but who here is driving on the track all day? There is also (as stated) the possibility of making the STi a better track car, but bang for the buck HAS to go to the STi, especially if Gino is driving

I'm still waiting to see a quantitatively measured and confirmed way to modify a standard WRX to have the "telepathic" handling of the EVO.
It's really too bad handling is so subjective; skidpad/slalom numbers don't tell the whole story, and there are no "handling dynos" that measure weight transfer, grip transition, and feedback. Alas!
