Engine/Power - EJ20T (pre-2006 WRX and JDM) There is replacement for displacement, it is forced induction - OEM 2.0 liter turbo engines in the USDM WRX. 90-94 Legacy Turbo EJ22 turbo engines can also be discussed here.

I got the premium package on mine and im very happy I did. I test drove a few 04's. Some had sunroofs and some didnt. I honestly didnt notice any difference in performance and I enjoy having the extra features with the package. It adds about 40lbs when all is said and done. Imo thats just a good excuse to add more horsepower. As far as the boost guage I would just buy a center pod and some aftermarket guages as your going to need an egt and maybe oil pressure or temp guage eventually anyways. By the way, the center pod is the guage pod that replaces the factory clock in the center of the dashboard.

I agree. I just bought an 04 last week. When test driving i didn't notice any difference. Definitely hold off on the boost gauge. They want way to much for it from the factory. As far as the premium package goes, what options come with that? I got mine without the sunroof and rear wing, but still got the premium sound and the damn armrest extension(wish i would have remember to tell the saleman I didn't want it).

Another reason for getting an aftermarket boost guage is that they are much easier to read, along with being more appropriately priced.

I chose to skip the premium package, and the only thing I miss is the sideview mirror heater. But scoobymods has a way of adding one yourself aftermarket.

I got the aftermarket gauges as well, and I think they look better and you have more flexibility where to put them. I can't comment on accuracy personally but I hear they are better in that too.

ive had my 04 WRX for about 3 months now. Got the premium pkg. Glad I did. Sure, it adds some weight, but I got a set of 17 inch wheels and summer tires, and man it handles amazingly!!
Plus ive always been a fan of sunroofs. I did get the turbo guage, but i was indifferent on that. Everyone who sees it seems to think it is cool though. Overall, my vote is to go for it.

Personally, I love the sunroof / moonroof .. then again, I've never actually had a car with one.

As far as the gauges, I totally agree... here are some pics of mine....
