removing the intake silencer will it gain or lose power or nothing at all? plz reply i got a big race this wensday private run for 100 bucks..

intake silencer removal won't make the car noticably faster, just lets you hear the turbo and intake working. want to let me race the chump in your place and let me earn some extra cash?

 

Internet legend has it that its not a good mod for USDM STi's.

Something about increasing your intake flow when your wastegate is inefficient...

 

nah im koo im goin to race him for the 100 buck his my friend he says he can beat the stock sti from a roll and from dead stop.. jus to let u know its a 200sx with sr20 motor swap...

don't be scared. you're not going to break anything. STis are pretty strong... well at least in comparison to the wrx. grrr. i wish i had that tranny!!!!

yeh, not a lot of power. BUt you can hear the turbo spool a lot better. it sounds kinda mean. Pretty loud actually. i don't exactly like the sound of a boxer engine @ low RPMs... so i vouched on not doing it.

 

From what I've read, it won't do much for power. Maybe slightly faster turbo response in low rpm's, at most.
