Fuel Leak

My car throws the P0442 code. My car is leaking fuel out of the top of the gas tank on the passenger side. The whole thing doesn't leak, just a little section you can see fuel coming out of. I have already replaced the gasket on the top of the tank and it still leaks. Is there anything I can put around the gasket or should I modify the lid to put more pressure on the area that the fuel is leaking from?

Thanks,
Chip

Are you certain the lid is sealing correctly? It is real easy to get the wiring caught under the lip and gasket. This is usually enough to cause a leak and throw a code. Also, make sure that goofy little bracket that goes under a couple of the nuts is aligned correctly.

We made sure that the wiring was out of the way and that bracket was on right. It leaks more towards the back seat of the car about a one inch area or less, if that makes sense. When we put another gasket on, I am going to have an empty tank so gas has no way of touching the gasket. When we looked at the gasket that is currently in place now it almost looks like where it seals around the top of the lid came half way across the where the holes go. Kind of hard to explain and I don't have a picture cause it is on my car right now. I am ordering 2 more gaskets this time just incase and if another new gasket doesn't fix it, then I guess I will have to take it to the dealership which I am dreading!

Did you get all of the nubs on the gasket to seat correctly?
