drivetrain noise

i have a 2002 wrx, with about 30k on it. im kinda new to the fast car thing, but i have a question. my car makes a noise when cruising at 53-59mph. the strange thing is i put in the clutch and the noise dims down with the speed like the clutch is out. and also the same kind of noise but a bit louder when i hit 110-115.
any ideas would be great.
thanks,
sam

Sounds like bad tranny bearings, but then you have lo miles.
Take it to an ind. tech, or a trustworthy dealership maybe...
I get a slight ticking from underneath my car under hard acceleration, regardless of speed, although most noticeable when merging onto freeways.
