more RS drivetrain problems
It seems that Fridays are particularly unlucky for my 98 RS. I guess the ACT clutch has a little too much clamping power for my driving style....or maybe i just drive it too hard. Any way, two fridays ago i lost 2 teeth from the ring gear in the rear differential, due to a 6500 rpm shift to second, but this part was still under warranty (the dealer didnt know about the clutch & UR flywheel. ) Last friday i lost second gear completely after an equally hard shift to second, and soon after i found my whole tranny seized up. anyone know if the quaife 5 speed synchro gearset is worth the money to prevent this in the future? id appreciate any info thanks everyone

From the sounds of your driving style and luck I'd say go for it. The stock M/Ts have had a poor history and its likely that you would just break any stock replacement transmission. If its worth doing then its worth doing the right way. However you might want to slow down your shifting. Speed shifting is hard on any transmission.

yeah i guess i should learn to control myself when it comes to shifting under power, and ill probly end up with the new quaife gearset, then i guess the last thing that would brake anytime soon would be a diff, so i guess then i could go for the quaife LSD's. Haha, well see....ill let yall know how the gears go

Well thats one of the reasons I got a second car. Just in case the Subaru breaks down. I'll still have to get my *** to work everyday to pay for the parts to fix the damn thing. Good luck man and if possible get a loan from a bank and put in a good strong M/T.
