Cobbtuning Access ECU.......
What do you guys think about the new Accessport??? I already have the reflash stage 2. I was thinking about going to UTEC because I wanted a VF22 turbo. Looks like I can get this then get some Tuning done by FIS. That should ROCK!!!!
I have read quite a bit about the access port and it seems like it is going to be an awesome product. The only thing that worries me is that cobb uses their own software and own tuning methods.
The reason why this worries me is that many tuning shops tune with the utec and ecutek, but none use the accessecu methods. I hope that many tuning shops add this to their capability to tune and if it is incorporated into their abilities this product is going to change the world of reflashing, IMO.
As far as your setup goes choose what you are comfortable with and what the tuning shop can tune. But your setup sounds awesome and should be really fast...

Man I can't wait!!! The good news is FIS in mckinney TX. WILL have the ability to tune the access ECU. Thats were I'm planning to take it once I get all my parts assembled. I think it's a very good point that we will have to see who will be getting the ability to tune with this system.
I've heard a lot of good things about Cobb's accessecu and accessport. The accessport isn't meant to be tunable, so i don't foresee myself running into problems with finding a local tuner to mess with it.

if you already have the AccessECU you can upgrade to the AccessPort or AccessTuner. With the port you can only download and install maps, with the tuner you can do anything you want. Check out the Cobb Forums for more info....

As a note the literature does say that FIS will be up soon to.....as it says......tune with access ecu. I'm not sure exactly how they will implement it. I don't see why they couldn't come up with a map or two for the port with or without the tuner.
EDIT- that doesn't mean that I wouldn't like to have the tuner to go on the dyno though!!!

well i just put my $160 down. i cant say enough good stuff about my stage 1 experience! Not having to send in the ecu for reflash, getting stock mode, valet mode, theft mode and a host of mod maps is gonna do me fine. here's a thread all interested should check. http://www.cobbtuning.com/flyer-accessport-std.pdf

Cobb says that no one else tunes with the Access ECu because it is theirs. They developed it and are the only ones that have the rights to tune it. They also say that this is why the Access ECU reflash costs less than the others. Maybe they will start to license this technology out to other tuners. I just hope, as someone who has preordered the Access Port, that this does not drive the cost of any future tuning up.

Can't Say enough...
I have had both Stage 1 and Stage 2 and I loved them both. You can also easily add an UpPipe Ic hoses and a Underdrive pulley to augment the stages like I did. Great mod, my subie is tough for a car still on the factory turbo; and better gas miliage than stock.
I have to say though, the access port is the "best buy" for those who currently do not run the access ecu. You can simple swap maps as you get your mods together. For me though at stage 2 already, it is still nice for the security mode, and valet mode but honestly I don't plan to mod the engine any more, for sake of the transmission. I hope however that when I get my STI I will be able to convert my accessport over to my STI and do the same thing again!!!
I am a huge cobb believer though... Bottom Line...
15K miles on Cobb Ecu with only 1 cat left and I have never seen a CEL, Ever.
