Thinking of getting the Cobbtuning ECU

Well I have a brandnew WRX.. and have been wondering what best bang for money mod I can do.

The Cobbtuning AccessECU looks good... 260hp for $395 I don't plan on going total power crazy.. I just want good power, thats not doing to shorten the life of my car.

Has anyone had experince with this? and does it perform like they say?

I have no mods right now... and plan on going with a TurboX Stealth Back later on.

I'm looking at it, too. I registered on Cobb's board and started reading up. As you may expect, the guys from Cobb have nothing but good things to say about it, however, they are also very straightforward as to the performance gains you should expect. No BS, no outrageous claims, and lots of comments like,

"we've been tuning for a long time, we know what the hell we're doing, but there could be problems that we don't know about so were trying not to hype this thing."

After going to a number of sites that just rave about their great and wonderful product and how it beats the crap out of everything else out there, and how you can expect 20-30HP at the wheels for the low low price of $$$$, it's nice to have the "walk soft/big stick" vibe I am getting from Cobb. As soon as my parts sell, I'm going to get one, and then I'll post up and let you know my own "butt-dyno" driven analysis.

so far, anyone who's had the cobb accessecu has nothing but good things to say bout it.....i don't have a turboback, and does not really match up w/their stage 2.....i'm thinking of making a trip to slc and have it custom tune, make a mini-vacation out of it

if you just want off-the-shelf ecu reflashes....go w/cobb, so much cheaper, w/the same results, hehe

Thumbs up

I drove over April Monday the 14th had mine done $421.07 for the stage 1 upgrade (255HP / 265 ft-lbs)- 91 octane. Its all that folks. I have a COBB cat back, GFB BOV and a K & N airfilter. I'm glad there only a 4 hour drive away.

prodrive121 and FIREX,

Do you guys know how they adjusted the boost? Specifically did they up it to ~15.5-16, or just tweak the curve to make it smoother? Also, did either of you get the "off-road" treatment? (No more CEL's for cat innefficiency, EGT voltage) Going to send mine in at the end of May, and just curious about the details. I still nee to call Cobb, but maybe you can make my inquiries a bit more precise.
Thanks

So.. the only down fall to this cobb access is that you have to wait until the ecu come back to ya, and you can't drive the car while they are recoding it.. how long is the turn around time? normally.. i can't wait until i get my done..
