Thinking of getting the Cobbtuning ECU
Anyone who has this can you tell me what boost levels your reaching in 1st and 2nd gears? Thats my major concern with the car is it just doesnt have enough power in the lower gears.
Thanks guys
Thanks guys
One other thing.. I know when these new ECU's are released there always ends up being a lil problem some where. Does it have a problem with partial throttle boost creep, or stumbles under heavy acceleration?
man!!
i just talked to cobb.. they say they don't have a map for me that would fully be aggresive for my setup.. i have fmic and unfortunately, they do not have a map for that, and they told me that they can reflash it, but it will not be as aggresive.. so i gues i won't be doing a reflash =*(

Whenever you get the chance, take your car over there and have them dyno-tune it. I would love to see your setup with it fully tuned. BTW, how's the APS?

EtchyLives: I spoke with Trey about my boost being turned up after the reflash and what's mostly done is timing and ignition, I don't realy see any more boost in driving my car what I do see is it comes on quicker and pulls all the way to redline, I also just installed a APS TMIC after the reflash and my stock turbo is much more happy.

gqzboy,
I talked to Josh this morning, and if they'll waive your fee I'd go for it. Especially because that would mean I could use "your" (Cobb's) map. Josh said there wouldn't be any appreciable differences in a map for your APS FMIC and mine. So head on over to Cobb so we can BOTH have a good map! Hell, I might even help you out with expenses.

I didn't talk to him about them waiving your fee. I was talking to him about the maps. I'd see if he would give you a discount on the tuning, as they'll be getting the map data that will enable them to serve a greater customer base. But even if they didn't, you're still getting the tune and chip for well under $1000. As opposed to a UTEC for about $1000, and you still need a tune to get the most out of it. Plus, the additional reflashes are dirt cheap.

I just got my AccessECU last night and took it for a full length test drive today with a couple of my buddies. Before I purchased the ECU I had turboback exhaust, bov, and a manual boost controller. Most of my friends have told me that they do not feel much of a difference, and neither do I when they are in the car, but when I am alone that's a different story. It pulls hard, but not a billion gagillion times harder than what I had before. I don't think it's quite what everyone's saying it is, as far as a night and day difference, but this might be because I have not driven or ridden in a stock WRX in about a year. Maybe the ECU has to 'learn' the way I drive or something, I don't know. I'm going to get it dynoed this weekend up at FIS in McKinney, TX. I'll be sure to post the graphs and everything and how they compare to what COBB got. No matter what though, this is definitely the best deal out there as far as engine management goes. I'll be installing my stage 4 setup as soon as FIS has the tuning equipment to do so.

gqzboy,
Need to know what your setup will be if you do go to Cobb. Need to know intake, turbo, uppipe, downpipe, and exhaust. I know the injectors, pump, and fmic already. I'll send our setups to Trey and Josh and see what I can do.
