what's wrong with my car? is it the cluth?!

A few days ago I noticed that when I floor my car around 4,000 rpm, it starts going up past 4 but as soon as it reaches 5 it shoots back down then starts to accelerate again. I notice this more in 4th gear, but it happens in all other gears except for 1st gear. My brother said that it may be my clutch thats slipping, but I don't know. Does anyone what it could be????

the rpm's shouldnt drop down if the clutch is slipping, correct me im wrong but IIRC, the rpm's should keep raising and the mph shouldnt be moving as much.

no i believe you, thats why i'm asking. I just don't know what it is. My brother's subaru has the same problem he said but worse. Also it seems like i'm not getting the full boost i usually get. I don't know if its the clutch, or is it a turbo leak or what.
