Tranny Leak 2

I read a little further down about the tranny leak. I have experienced a similar issue:
About 6 weeks ago I started my car in the morning to let it warm up. I left my house and stopped at the light about a mile away and smelled oil burning. This happened for about 3 days straight and was so bad I actually saw smoke rising from the hood scoop. I filled the gear oil that weekend hoping it would last until I could see the dealer. It burned oil and smoked for 2 more days then stopped and it hasn't done it since. Still haven't made it to the dealer but the oil level is holding steady. Has anyone had an issue like this?
Glad to read about the clutch shudder fix... I figured the oil had been getting on the clutch and causing it to shudder. Looks like I will be seeing the dealer sooner rather than later.

The rear main seal on your motor can leak and also give you the same problems where it will smoke, stink like hell, can burn up your clutch and things along those lines. Either way they will have to pull the transmission off of the back of the motor to find out.

I can understand that issue.
Some observations: 1. the leak completely stopped, 2.I never saw any fluid dripping on the ground, 3. The clutch shuddered around the time it was smoking but it has stopped since the leak stopped.
What gets me is that it started as fast as it quit.
I appreciate the input.

I follow you about the seeping leak. I think it must have been a decent leak to see smoke come out of the air scoop, but only that first mile. It would not smoke as it was warming or after the first mile. It did it for 3 days then I filled the gear oil it did it one more day then stopped.
I can see some oil on the passenger side of the gear box, but I haven't been able to get under the car to trace the leak. Hopefully I will get at it this weekend.
