Shaking after a replaced clutch??
I just picked up my car today after the clutch was replaced because it chattered. The clutch engages alot sooner now and it feels good but when I release the clutch and do not give any gas the car seems to shake back and forth slightly even when the car has been warmed up. Has anyone else experienced this?
Is it because it is a new clutch needs to break in? or did they do a bad job of installing it?

If your clutch was replaced with a high performance unit this is normal. My 240sx chatters like a mother. But if it's stock and it chatter most likley they did not resurface the flywheel and it will continue to chatter because it will never seat properly. Last time I had my car worked on the flywheel was never surfaced and it chatter really bad now. I just drive around it though.

No its not a performance clutch. The stock clutch had a chatter that is a defect like all other subarus from 00-02. there is a technical survice bullitin (tsb) and I took it in to have it replaced. But now the car shakes when the clutch is engaged w/out pushing on the gas from a stop. Car never shaked when clutch was engaged from stop.
Not sure if this is normal or not?
Has anyone replaced their clutch b/c of the tsb and does your car shake now?

i replaced one in my girlfriends OBS before the recall and it does this still, she is on her 3rd clutch in less than 3000 miles, it still chatters when letting it go with no gas, or very little gas, they replaced flywheel too last time

so is it the clutch to blame or did the dealership not install all the right components?
This clutch situation pisses me off, how many times do they expect me to take in my car? Can't they just do it right the first time
does you clutch still chatter now after the flywheel?

yup, still chatters after new flywheel.
the first time the clutch was installed they said that it was a defective clutch when i brought it back, the second time it was a bent release finger?(those metal tabs in the middle), the third time it was the flywheel that was warped(but they put in a new clutch at the same time), so i dont know what to expect next time, what else can they possibly say is wrong with it

After taking your car there to fix a problem four times does the lemon law take effect? Not to sure what the law states but I have heard that after four times of repair the dealership is required to buy to vehicle/ replace it entirely??

Hey guys,
I think you must really used to low pressure clutches. When you dirve a car with a good clutch in it like the wrx you need to give a litle gas when yoi engage. it normal on a high pressure cltuch. **** the first thing I noticed when I bought my new wrx was how greatthe stock clutch was. It feels like a highperformance clutch for the dealer. Just give it a little more gas and dont slip it so much and you'll be much happier. If you dont like the feel the get a center force the can handle a little more slip and you wont get much chatter.
But for my the more it chatter the better it holds. No just kidding though I don't think it's any thing to worry about.

But the thing is, the original stock clutch did not chatter when it had warmed up at low rpm's. It only chatterd when it was cold or there was alot of moisture. The stock clutch was then replaced ( b/c of TSB) to fix the cold violent chattering problem under warranty. Now the clutch does not violently chatter when cold but it chatters all the time at low rpm's. This is not normal.
The stock clutch may be high performance compared to other cars but for the WRX it sucks! WRX's are known for having ****ed up clutches. But thanks for your input.

Flywheel
It really sounds like they didn't resurface your flywheel.
If they didn't do that then yes, you will have chatter. I pulled
out of my driveway cold and mine was chattering like crazy.
I pulled into my buddies shop and I'm having an ACT Clutch
Kit installed as I speak.
Subaru better pay for it now. I just found the bulletin on it.
