Good place to get a clutch replaced?

I was wondering if anyone knows a good shop where i can take my 2000 2.5rs in for a clutch replacement. I called over to WC Subaru and they quoted me 1400 dollars for parts and labor and that seems to me to be a rip off. Any good mechanics in Contra Costa Co that you guys could recommend?

licmotorsports or gruppe-s depending on where you are located, don't bother going anywhere else (unless you want a broken car)

I'm going to have to put in a 1 for AutoHQ if you live in the west bay like between Sunnyvale and Hillsdale.

Kevin Wong is freaking cool. Today's he's doing a road test on my car. Simultaneously educating me about vehicle dynamics while throwing the rear out while honking at a guy who makes an illegal left turn. He is first and foremost a mechanic but also a bonafide Chinese badass. Ever watch old Chow-Yun Fat movies with him sliding down some pole with dual handguns and a cigarette in his mouth? I could imagine Kevin doing that.

Anyways, maybe I'm wrong but AHQ and LIC are the only two shops I have never heard anything bad about, and everyone who talks about them recommends with great entusiasm.

I'll also add that Mert at MPJ is a great fixit mechanic however. Came in with fluid all over my engine bay and freaking out, Mert fixes the leaks and charges me next to nothing. I am certain that if I had towed my car to a dealership they would have given me a several hundred dollar bill.

MPJ/GB in Hayward has done good work for a great price on my '95 Impreza and '03 WRX. I also recommend AHQ as Kevin has previously worked on my WRX and spent a long time troubleshooting clutch issues on my RS. I have also heard great things and nothing bad about LIC, but never been there.
